I had a lovely sleep last night, the beds were really comfy. We're in the mountains so it was absolutely freezing when we woke up this morning. We had breakfast at 7am and then we were driven up to the start of the Alpine Track in the Australian Alps. We followed the track to Blue Lake and then walked back the way we had come. The round trip was about two and a half hours. All the way along the track we had good views of Mt Kosciuszko (the highest point in Australia).

After the walk, we got back on the bus and we were driven to a lookout where there were great views over the snowy mountains. Luke had memorised the poem about the snowy mountains that is printed on $10 notes and he recited the poem to us while we were taking photos. On the bus this afternoon, Luke overheard me saying I wanted to see a koala in the wild and he drove us all to an area of bush where we could look for them. Someone spotted one, a little way in. We all got out and I finally got to see a koala in the wild! It was so cute!

Tonight we are staying at a YHA at Lake's Entrance. The sun was setting as we approached Lake's Entrance and there was a brilliant red sunset which was beautiful but apparently if the sunset is that colour it means there is a bush fire nearby. We reached Lake's Entrance just in time to see the sunset over the lake. We didn't get there until after 7pm so we went straight to dinner, at the local fish and chip shop. We've got to be up for breakfast at 6am in the morning and there's not much to do here so we're all just going to get an early night tonight.
