Hello

I can't believe that I'm in India! Feeling very lucky to have the opportunity to come here.
Claire & I arrived in Mumbai on Friday morning and immediatly felt welcomed by India, the people are so friendly, the colours so vibrant, India has a great vibe!
We took our flight to Goa and 1.5 hrs south of the airport is the most beautiful place on earth- Palolem Beach. The car ride was very green and hilly. We arrived at our accomodation- which was eco- friendly wooden lodges called Bhakti Kutar, very simply construced from wood and straw, with 'interesting' bathroom facilities - a traditional squat toilet and shower made up of a container with a copper jug, which was (of course) cold water! But totally all that is needed when the surroundings are so wonderful.
Palolem beach is amazing, just as you imagine an indian coast line to be- I cannot begin to describe how beautiful, as you look forward there is the bluest of seas, with green and rocky hills to both the left and right and behind you know you can get the best food and juices and see swaying palm trees, all this while sitting on the whitest of sands. The unique thing about this beach is every so often it will suprise you with a herd of cows or a bunch of Indian women in the most colourful sahris.
We only intended to stay a day or two- while we worked out the rest of the trip- but of course, plans change and we ended up staying for 4 days.

Being here has reminded me of everything I love abut travelling, how everyday is completely different but equally amazing. The sunsets are breathtaking and a highlight to the day- the best one was the first night- look at the photo.

The food in Palolem is very delicious- especially the traditional Goan food. Food and drink for both Claire & I cost around 250 rupees (3quid).

We spent time exploring the area and found an amazing, deserted beach (apart from a few cows & locals) stretching on & on with white sands as far as we could see - Agonda beach.

We have met some lovely people from Nepal - who were very friendly and resulted in both Claire & I putting Nepal on our ever growing lists of places to visit.

They invited us to spend an evening with their crowd - listening to one the best Nepalise guitar player/singer I have ever heard.

While staying in Palolem we took some well deserved R&R and had an Ayreverdic massage. My previous experiences of massage have been relaxing and calming. This one however, was quite different- a good word to use here is painful! Everytime I cryed out in pain, the guy reminded me 'no pain, no gain'! For days after it felt like an elephant had danced on me.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Palolem beach to anyone who appreciates natural beauty and good food. I will definatly be back... one day!
