Claires lovely foot and ankle Annyong haseyo!
Well another week has passed and a weekend of opportunity is on the horizon! I'm hoping that this weekend brings with it the relief from this cold type sickness that I've been suffering from for the past week. It's been one of those ones that moves from one place to another and then back again so it's like sweet it's going away and then I wake up and I'm right back to the first day of throat closage. I shouldn't complain though I mean I could be on crutches like my dear flatmate Claire! She had a little accident outside our place the other night that involved some flat ground and ankle twisting. I've included a photo of what has now become of her foot. She's strong though hobbling around with and without crutches!
Anyway it was an ok week, the kids were a little less monstrous and a little cuter! My one kindergarten class seems to have big problems with sharing and playing by the rules though. I twice had to make them sit in their seats instead of playing a game because they get screaming at each other and grabbing at cards and someone ends

Andy rocking the I'm Handsome face even coming down a slide! I swear he's going to have it surgically attached to his face! up in tears and I just don't have the patience for that day in and day out. Generally by the 2nd minute of quiet reflection on the events that preceded the mandatory sit down I get some quiet "I'm sorry Megan Teacher" "Yes sorry Megan Teacher". Today however they put me over the edge and I stopped even looking at them we just sat in the circle and I looked at the board. Eventually they all gathered around me after a few hushed "Megan Teacher is angry"'s. My other kindergartens are fairly good at playing by the rules and when someone doesn't they never deal with it by screaming or crying it's more a glare and it's over with! Oh here's a good little story about something that happened the other day. Anna apparently looked at Willy's cards which sent him into a fit of tears and all the kids threw their pairs in front of him and were like "Willy won" but Anna who actually had the most pairs was like "Noooo Anna"! I was appalled but humoured at the same time because they all were trying to cheer Willy up but Anna had no clue what was actually
going on! Like I said though they are cute, today I had to chase Eddie down and bring him back to class and I literally flipped him upside down and carried him that way! He laughed the whole way and I just thought to myself, "what would happen if I were in Canada and did this!"
I've gotten so used to tears, they are as common as scooters here. And that goes both for Korean children as well as Korean TV! Which I have watched a bit more of, but more on that later! So tears. Today was playroom which the kids really look forward to as do I because they are INSANE and it's pretty funny! Well the way they run around and grab at each other you just know that someone is going to get hurt and it's only one kid then you've had a successful day! Today both Willy and Lily ended up in tears because of bumps to the face. Willy bawled but got over it quickly while Lily bawled, got over it and as soon as I was paying attention to someone else started up again...I've grown accustomed to shrugging and not paying attention.

Kevin hates the playroom, can't you tell! No need to fan the fires of attention seekers!
I had not felt like a real teacher since I got here until today, you see today I started my report cards! And we have to write one for every student we teach which is somewhere in the 50-60 range! Suddenly I was like ooooh I get it! I can't wait to actually be able to be honest about some of the kids because my god some are disasters. I have instated a new rewards program for My Boys (that is their official name!) I cut out 9 jersey's and wrote their names on them and glued them to a "soccer" field. Under their jersey is a box and if they do well in class I will give them a goal. They seemed excited about it...more so because they know I'll spoil whoever "wins"! I brought them Strawberries, Banana's and Oranges today and their eyes were about the size of the moon! They weren't really my boys today though I was not happy with them. (Claire "How were your boys today?" Me "oooh those weren't MY boys!") I mean I still wasn't like "AHHHHHHHHHHH" but I was nearing that point.
Chad (my fav) told me that I was scary! Probably because I wasn't happy give everyone an orange just for being alive Megan Teacher! HA Wednesday Chad looked at me and went "whats your name?" and I was like Chad I'm one person I remember your name and 50 others why is my name so hard for you to remember and he goes "oh it's so long" lol it's one letter longer than his! It's ok though he's still numero uno!
Other than school this week I didn't do all that much...we met the new guy upstairs he's from Ireland and is escaping a career he didn't enjoy all that much. I find that North American's come here straight after school while people from other nations come after establishing themselves. He's really nice, I don't see any problems with us getting along. Claire and I talked to him for about an hour yesterday in the hallway. He was saying that he wishes we had more of a communal space because being alone in your room is quite sad and we both agreed and informed him that we had every intention of making the one spare room into a sitting

A Peace Sign...how did that get in there
room (Claire's grand idea). I also believe that I am going to become the DVD rental master just like when I was at school! Natasha has already taken some of my Grey's! On the movie front I have watched a few Korean films in the past few days. All with the same actor in it because he's in that new movie I want to see called Fate (I won't understand a word of it but it looks pretty kick ass and I mean that literally!). The movies were all great. Much better than Korean TV! Their primetime drama's are basically the daytime soaps that we are used to, utter rubbish! It's all cry, hug, cry, hug, cry, hug, run, hug, girl dies at the end, cry, hug, almost cry, almost kiss but hug. Seriously that is not even close to an exaggeration! OOOH I did see someone laugh once I was like holy crap that guy just broke character he'll never make it in this country again!
Anyway I should get to bed as I have to go do this lovely medical test thing tomorrow morning. I'm a little nervous I mean what if they reveal that I'm actually
colourblind and I've just been lying to myself all these years...all those beautiful colours that I've thought I'd seen. My life would be one big lie!
OOH and thanks Meg and Court for the postcard it put a smile on my face! My class after I received it thanks you! I promise to send out some postcards when I can get to the post office when it's open, their hours are the same as mine so it's a bit difficult!

My kids are growing up and whining more? What? ;)
I love these playroom pictures because in some ways, I do miss my whiny Mercury class just because they really were my lovelys last year, and these are great! Plus, they can semi-communicate now unlike my own wee babies...love the banana smiles too :)
