sounds like a dream Had a great chat with MJ at the Baby Maximus shower on Sunday. She sent us your Blog and it is delightful. Had no idea that the filipines is so exotic. Nice writing and very appealing. New career on the horizon? Hope to see you in October. You will have another new second Cousin. Drop us a line. Sandy and Tony
Glad to find this blog! Thanks for sharing this. Enjoyed reading about your adventures in the Philippines. Palawan is a lovely place. So with Tagaytay --- but that wasn't an extinct volcano. In fact, it is "active" now. Will catch up with your other blogs. Keep writing!
warm greeting from the phil im a filipino, and im so glad that you had a wonderful time in our country, el nido is indeed marvelous, i hope you could comeback and check out other spots in the philippines too... i couldnt agree more, poverty is big problem.
Great blog Hi, Meg. You write so well. I was having a hard time deciding between mainland Palawan and Coron. Your blog just made up my mind. You were gushing! Thanks and am glad you enjoyed your trip here.
so happy to have shared this experience with you... Meg, you captured this experience so perfectly! I am sure this will encourage others to discover the beauty of the Philippines.I am so happy we were able to share this time together. Sorry I didn't know about the terminal fee!! Yikes, that must have been a panic - adds to the story though!
Some Questions :) Hiya Meg
Stubled upon your blog here, hope you don't mind (think typed korea/teaching/fun) into google or something like that, anyway was very good read. I've recently returned from travelling round Asia myself, Vietnam/Thailand/Laos and well being back home and temping for 2 months has given me itchy feet again! which is why i've started looking into possibilities of teaching in Korea.
I don't really know anyone who has done this and have only just started researching it myself so was just wondering if you had any good recomendations of where to look for current placements etc?
Also did you have any qualifications to teach? i've got a degree but thats it, i.e no Tefl or CELTA, am i better off trying to get one of these first? any help much appreciated!!
Ta
James
Home for Christmas Yes Meg, your coming home was the best gift we could have hoped for. (And for the record I did cry when I read this blog...but then again I tear up at Hallmark commercials!)
Hi Meg, sounds like Tokyo was a blast. We were in the Narita Airport on our way to the Phillipines, but we didn't have time to leave the airport (we didn't want to leave Rudy and Purita alone - and we knew they would be worried that we would miss the connecting flight, but it was sooo hard to be right there! and not able to see Japan!!) Regarding the intersections, Toronto has joined the other cosmopolitan, pedestrian friendly cities, and there are now several of these in the downtown core! Anyway, glad to hear it was a great trip - I hope you are feeling better. Love Aunt MJ
Kill myself laughing everytime.... Hi Megan, my name is Brooke and I work with your dad at the group home - mostly on weekends when half the kids are gone - so, it is entirely your dads fault as I am hooked on reading your blogs. I find them very funny and well worth reading. (I'd rather read your blog than the Welland Tribune anyday!). I am glad you are having a great time and gaining lifelearning experiences - I feel as if I am there too as I read - thanks for the laughs and I will keep on reading as long as you keep writing...chow!
I want to go there too! What a fun blog! I wish I was there!!!! - it is great that you are enjoying the differences rather than lamenting them! That's what travel is all about.
I looked for cow corn! Hi, I am Korean living in Toronto for 2.5 years. (opposite way from your way to Korea from Maple country?!) It's very intereting how you see Korean life with Canuck's perspective. I laughed a lot when reading about Korean corn, actually I thought Canadian corn is too sweet and soft, and tried to find Korean-style corn which you called "cow corn"! haha~ I think I would visit your blog often, thanks a lot for posting and enjoy life in Korea.
Happy that she's happy! It was terrifying, to say the least, to have Meg set off for Korea, on her own, to meet up with people whom she'd only had email and phone contact with. It is a joy to read her blogs and to talk with her on the phone (via Skype), and "visit" Korea through her. She wanted to experience the world, and she surely is doing that.
You go girl! Miss and love ya!
Reports!!!! Wow...here we don't formally evaluate a kid if he/she has been in our class for less than five weeks...and you've been there a whole 3 weeks!!! GOOD LUCK!
I'm a Canadian currently finishing my final year of teaching English in South Korea. With 3 years in Korea under my belt I figure it's best to set out into the world again and find my next adventure!
