I left Sorrento at 10 a.m. on Thursday and took a 30 min. ferry to the Island of Capri, as you'll see from the pictures the island is stunning. When I arrived at Capri's Marina Grande, my original plan was to immediately catch another boat to the Blue Grotto, but the Grotto was closed, so I took a 30 min. bus ride up through the town of Capri to Anacapri, which it the town that sits at the top of the Island. Anacapri is a very, very small town with mostly shops and restaurants. I wondered around for a bit and found a few neat places like the Casa di Rossa (the red house), and the Chapel of Villa San Michele. The Casa di Rossa was closed, but I was able to go into the chapel. In comparison to the many, many other churches I've seen in Italy this one was very small. In fact, the only thing to see inside of the church was it's tiled floor. The entire floor of the chapel was covered in brightly painted tiles depicted the Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (see pictures).

After leaving the church I went on into Villa San Michele, home to author and doctor Axel Munthe. The house itself was nice, but the garden and views were absolutely breathe taking.

After stopping in the Villa's garden to eat the lunch that I packed I decided that I did have the courage to ride the very high, very small chairlift up to the highest point on the island of Capri. As you'll see from the pictures, the chairlift was an actual "chair" lift, consisting of a small wooden chair for one person attached to a row of cables. The ride was well worth the amazing views that I was able to take in. At the top of the peak there was a small garden and a small patio that apparently serves food and drinks during the summer. I decided that instead of taking the chairlift back down that I would walk the 45 min. path back down to Anacapri. Once back in Anacapri, I caught another 15 min. bus to Capri.

Once in Capri I stopped at the main Piazza to sip a lemon slushy and take in the view of the Marina Grande below. Capri is mostly just extremely expensive shops and restaurants, but while wondering around I did stumble upon a free garden on the side of a cliff overlooking the entrance to the Blue Grotto. I spent the rest of the day wondering around Capri, and then I took the funicular (see picture) down to Marina Grande to catch my ferry back to Sorrento.
