For those of you who came to our wedding...thank you! Jessica and I had the most wonderful time and it was truly amazing having you all there....

But on to our trip! Over the next 3 months we hope you will join us on our around-the-world honeymoon. Please e-mail , comment, or ask questions...we will love to hear from you.

Although we had a few nights (8th & 9th) in Grand Cayman getting used to this whole marriage thing... on March 10th Jessica and I flew to Miami to start our honeymoon and catch our first flight to Peru to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu -- but not so fast.

We had a long layover originally so we had some spare time, so we checked our bags and we headed to the famous South Beach. Being cheap (and the fact that taxis wanted $40 one way) we took the $2 public transport from Maimi International to South Beach.

Now I had been warned by many family members not to take Jessica into dodgy areas in forigen countries -- but none of you mention the good ole´US of A. Let´s just say that the trip went ok..but I would never have gotten Jessica´s Aunt Valerie on this particular public transport! We were not in Roseburg anymore! About one and half hours later we arrive to a very cold South Beach, Florida. We had dinner along Lincoln Road, and walked along the beach, then caught the public transport back to the airport.

When we arrived back at the airport a little more trouble. The problem was that foul weather in Ecuador had delayed our plane, and they would tell us "only three hours more" every three hours when really it was going to be the next morning...eight hours later than our orignial departure time.

So the first official night of our honeymoon was spent on the floor of the Miami International Airport. Apparently Miami really likes its air conditioning and the airport was a cool 59 degree the whole night -- no exaggeration here. They set the temp at that level during the nights so that the big windows won´t heat up the airport during the day. You are not meant to stay the night in the airport...one of the coldest, hardest places I had ever slept in my life.

The flight was great and when we arrived in Lima, Peru we had missed all flights to Cusco...so Lan Airlines put us up for free in the 5-star Sheraton hotel in beautiful Lima. Did I mention FOR FREE!!!!! (and they fed us too!)

Rough start, but I figure that if we can survive the rough neighborhoods of Maimi..the rest of the world will be nothing -- and we seem to be getting off to a great start in Peru.

What fun!
This is going to be so fun! I feel like Katherine and I are going to get a magical geography, history, sociology course with two of our very favorite people! Thank you, Larry, for taking such good care of our girl...I'm glad to know that my admonitions are echoing in your head :) I'm hoping that I gave you sufficient warnings to last the duration of the trip! :) Love the address of the blog! Mr. and Mrs. George, while already shared by several of the households following you two on this journey, is going to take some getting used to by us on the Johnson/Brey side. It's the perfect heading for your travel log!/honeymoon trip! Jessica has already sent a message about Machu Pichu, but we will be glad to hear what you, Larry, have to say about it as well. Let us know when you hit the beaches of Bora Bora. Since it is only in the los 50's and damp here, many of us will be living vicariously on the sand again through you! Much love to you both--keep these travels safe! :) Auntie V and Katherine
