They have these little roadside markets all over the place.
So I am done my first week of solo teaching and I have to admit I really enjoyed it! I have never been a huge fan of kids but boy do I love MOST of the kids I teach! There are obviously a couple who are completely INSANE but they will hopefully calm done soon! It was also White Day in Korea which is basically Valentines day but only for women. You see on Valentines day women give chocolate to men and on White day men give candy to women. This means that I got a whole bunch of candy from my students, candy that will probably sit on my desk until I leave! It's good stuff don't get me wrong, I just don't like candy that much...I don't understand why chocolate isn't given to women...another strange Korean tradition I guess! Mike brought us all apples though so that was awesome! He refused to buy candy because it's obviously bad for us and I was grateful!
After work Claire, Natasha, Mike and I headed downtown for some dinner. We went to a little soup restaurant...yes soup is HUGE here and I've got no problems with that! Natasha and I had a beef stew with noodles and Mike and Claire had pretty much the same with rice. I'm a little sick of rice and I can never get enough noodles so I'm happy most restaurants have the option!
After dinner we headed to this hole in the wall tea shop that was FULL of eager Koreans ready to discuss various topics in English. I sat at a table with 5 others and talked about an ex-pro baseball star murdered a mother and her 3 daughters over about $100,000.00. After that we all headed over to an Italian restaurant for food and drinks because Koreans don't drink unless they have food! I didn't eat anything because I was still full from dinner but I did enjoy the beer!
I talked to one girl a lot, she studied at the University of Houston for 6 years so her English was very good. It was great to meet native Koreans because Claire said they become a very important support system for foreigners. The meetings are Tuesday's and Friday's but I think I'll only be going on Friday's because Tuesday's we get out early and I could actually make dinner that night!

This morning Mike

and I headed to Costco and I stocked up on plenty of Western products! I bought some of that Kirkland Trail Mix that my dad buys. It's slightly more expensive here about $15 a bag! But it's worth it, reminds me of home! I also got some Honey Nut Cheerios, pineapple salsa (which tastes GREAT) and some steak and ground beef from Australia! I can't wait to cook. The ride home was about an hour and the bus drivers drive like cabbies so it's somewhat frightening! Tonight Mike and Natasha are coming over and we are making pizza, Claire has been dying to make it since she got here!

Hopefully you enjoy the view from my roof! It's already very warm up there so it may or may not be nice in the summer!
