Day Six
Last night the meal and a couple of beers put me to sleep at about 9.30 but with my body still on Japanese time I was awake by 5 am. Read and got ready and I was first in for Breakfast at 7.00, Typical hostel breakfast spread and because a day walking around Munich lay ahead of me I thought I’d better get some carbs in! Muesli, fruit, yoghurt, toast, cheese, salami, pickles, coffee, juice and a banana, bring it on Munich.
The forecast was for wind and rain, for some reason it had not occurred to me that it might actually rain while I was on holiday but I stepped out into the cold prepared to take shelter if needs be. Walked down Marianplatz and stopped at a couple of shops bought a Ralph Lauren shirt and a silk tie on sale, and some thermal undies for Tahoe, and set off to have a look at the city centre.
Then the storm hit and I heard some one actually say “blitzen und donner” add in snow sleet hail and wind and that is what hit. The six reindeer of the apocalypse!
This was definitely the time to shelter in a coffee shop and consume a cappuccino and chocolate croissant ‘til the storm passed.
It was snowing as I left the coffee shop and a chill wind was blowing, a shot rang out! Somewhere a baby cried and a mother screamed… well it was getting a bit too cliché!
Spent the day looking at the occasional monument, beer hall, museum and ducking into department stores to warm up as required. I thought I might take in a movie but every teenager in Bavaria was at the complex and despite my well documented love of teen agers of every hue, I ran screaming from the place.
At the market I bought a meatloaf roll and an apple juice and headed back to the hotel thinking that I’d have a nap to put the jet lag in its place and managed to fall into a dead sleep round 6.00pm.
Saturday night in Munich!

Mmmmmh
I refuse to be baited ........ ... still busy organising the Putsch ... which will put you in your place on your return. Did you find the Feldherrenhalle ...that it is where another abortive Putsch ended ... just a few years before you were born....
