Baiyoke Sky Hotel - Tuk Tuk !!!
My new job so I can stay in Thailand - an Aussie Tuk Tuk driver in Bangkok - they would love that - he he Jan 19th - 26th
The Party is Nearly Over - For This Trip Anyway
Well I am back in Adelaide and housebound with conjuctivitis (red eyes) and a cold for the Australia Day weekend - the doctor took one look at me when I went for some eye drops and said you need some sleep - hehe - well i have not had any for two days so i guess she made a correct diagnosis.
My last week in Thailand and Bangkok for this visit was very relaxing but every day seemed to go quickly with the inevitable date of departure for Australia fast approaching - I didn't want to leave the wonderful friends that I have made here and who have made me feel a part of their family. Most Thais are all about friends and family and will share with and do whatever they can to help their friends and don't mind reaching out to others - they have a beautiful and considerate way of life and I will be back to visit again soon.
My main outings in day time were to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, the tallest building in Thailand and
Baiyoke Sky Hotel
Tallest Building in Thailand - well worth a visit and great views a visit to the Grand Palace.
The Baiyoke Tower is a twenty minute walk from BTS Siam and you will walk past the main shopping area in Siam which includes the Siam Paragon and Central World with my favourite the K Mart type shop Big C also along the way. It costs 200 baht to hop on the fast elevator to the upper levels and sometimes revolving top level to view the city. The entrance price also includes a drink and popcorn - I had a Bacardi and Coke so it is virtually a free visit to Baiyoke - great value and the souvenirs are fairly priced as well.
Allowing for the smog it was a very clear day in Bangkok and it was pleasant watching the views of Bangkok from the top of the Baiyoke Tower. I was there for two hours and there are displays of old town Bangkok and other space age themes including a couple of martians available for photo opportunities.
On my last day I had my second look at the Grand Palace - first for this trip but special because I was taken there by three of my Thai friends which
Central World - Siam
Last time I was here on New Years Eve this place was packed with equipment for the big countdown party gave me a different insight - The King and the Palace is very important to all Thais.
On my last night in Bangkok seven of us climbed into a taxi and I was taken to an area where there are many clubs and we danced away the night till 4 am when they close here and then we went to another disco in a nearby suburb with no signage or lighting outside but inside was jam packed with locals and we partied till 630 am. I was the only foreigner I saw in this part of Bangkok so I was priviliged to see how the locals enjoy their nights away from the tourist areas and as usual everyone was shaking my hand and hugging me and clicking their glasses with mine. It makes it even more difficult to leave when you are made so welcome but it was soon time to pack my luggage and make the trip out to the airport. More hugs and it is time to leave but I don't think it will be long before I return.
Kop khun khrap - Thank you
Sawatdee khrap - Goodbye
