Well, we made it! We woke up at 4:30 this morning, 2:30am Sydney time, and went to the CC airport. Was a very smooth walk through customs and boarding, and 3 hours later we found ourselves walking on the tarmac in Sydney. Penny was pumped, she finally is standing on Continent 6. She had spotted the opera house from the air, so all that is left to see here is a kangaroo. After a quick tour of the customs area, we got out into the arrivals area and were met by our hosts Judy and Ray. We left the airport, dropped our bags, and headed for the Blue mountains. We got to see the 3 sisters and tour around some of the small towns that surround Sydney. The day was hot until early evening, then the sky's opened and the lightning started. We started to go back to the house, but took a detour to the olympic venue for white water events. It was a very cool centre, with a mini river moving in a circle and a conveyer belt lifting boats from the finish to the starting area. We did not stay long as the heavens opened again and we were chased back to the car. When we got back to the house, we saw that hail and wind had beat us to the neighbourhood as trees were laying all over the sidewalks and roads. We made it a quiet night. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will change and we can get downtown to see the opera house. We are planning on heading south around Wednesday.
