Well here we are in Young, the main cherry picking area, weel hats lucky because thats what we are here for. We are staying on a farm with all the workers so the rent is really cheap. My god we were in for a shock I think every fly lives here, I hate then they always go for my ears and it freaks me out. The nights are also alot colder than what we are used to but we will survive, we had a camp on a none powered site for the first 2 nights, but it was so boring so we moved over to a powered site so at least we could watch movies and make tea. This was all good for a couple of days untilthe alarm went off in the field and we were all told we had to get off of the field as thier is a storm coming. So off we went I manage to have a shower and get back to the van and then the heavens opened, my god I have never seen so much rain in my life. Julie had decided to cook so we drove as close to the kitchen as possable and I jumped out and grabbed the food, when I got back into the van I was wet through and to make matters worse I wacked my head on the top of the van a full speed, yes it really hurt, a little tear left my eye. After food I slept for the next 3 hours I think I had a bit of concussion.

The fruit picking itself was ok, we were picking cherrys for most of the time and on one day we picked apricots. The people we worked with were really friendly but the flys were really annoying so I always wore my headphones with or without music, just to stop them from going into my ears. The cherrys were on a trellace but we still needed ladders to get to the ones at the top, lucky im not scared of ladders as some times I was just about balancing on them while pulling the stems to pick off the cherrys. The hard thing about the picking is you had to keep the stems on them, so you had to find a technique to keep the stalks on which was painfull to your thumbs. In fact my skin pealed on both first fingers and thumbs for about 2 weeks after nice.

We done a full week and then headed to Harden for a night, Brad has an old primary school mate their. I had the best night ever we headed out to the farm the Shane works and went in chase of Kangroos. The wild ones here can be a real pain for the farmers so the boys were hoping to slim down the population. Off we went with loaded guns, with me and Julie on the back of the ute with the dogs. This was so much fun, Shane put his foot down and we hung on for our lifes. We had only been driving for a few minute when we spotted a family of big Kangaroos, we rushed ahead in front and the boys jumped out, lucky for the Kangaroos they were both really bad shots this time round and they all got off with thier lifes. We headed for te sheep shearing shed, and it was great I got to touch some of the wool that had been sheared. The view from this shed was awesome you could see for miles what a great office. When we used the toliet we had the same views. Then for the last bit of the adventure we got a stubby cooler and set it up on the bank, and yes i shot my first gun, it was the biggest rush ever. I dont know if I hit the stubby cooler but I didnĀ“t care I was having so much fun. What a great way to finish of a hard week at work.
