Yummy....Llama foestuses
Witches Markets - La Paz 23/11-24/11/07
After touching down back into La Paz, we spent a day and a half wandering the markets of La Paz including the witches market which had some interesting items for sale. Those included llama foetuses.... cos you never know when you will need one of them. Apparently they are put under houses to ward off evil spirits or bring good luck or something. I am not sure NZ customs would appreciate a dead foetus in my backpack so I declined the offer of sale.
We also visited the Coca Museum which was really interesting. I wonder what Cocacola tasted like when it had cocaine in it? Crazy stuff.
On Saturday night, we said goodbye to La Paz and jumped on an overnight bus bound for Potosi. We were originally thinking of heading to the capital Sucre but decided against it. Probably a good thing as there had been riots all week in Sucre and those travellers in Sucre couldn´t get out and were hostel bound for a over a week. 4 people died and hundreds taken to hospital. All to do with President Morales declaring that La Paz is the capital and not Sucre (I think). I
could be wrong and sure there was more to it than that but it didn´t look pretty on TV.
