Wow..
Thats a long way up... Having had an enjoyable trip overnight from Butterworth,
we arrived refreshed and raring to go...
Found the guesthouse without any problems.
This was located in the "Golden Triangle".
The central part of Kuala Lumpur,
where everything of interest is located.
Having dumped our backpacks we headed out to the Petronas Towers,
this was another on our list of to do's.
We weren't disappointed....
An awesome sight in the day time,
but absolutely spectacular at night.
Much more impressive than any photograph could prepare you for.
Took far too many pictures and a few videos to try and capture the dominance of this structure.
Check out our video and see if we managed it...
The following day we decided to check out the KL Tower.
Thought we'd go there later in the day so that we could check out the view from the top in daylight and at night.
We found the views to be amazing.
Unfortunately we missed the free guided tour of the rain forest,
this is located to the left of the entrance up to
Haven Guesthouse
Free tea coffee and toast all day - Can't be bad... the tower and available about 3 times a day ( the last one being 4.30pm).
However we were able to catch sight of the monkeys harrassing tourists, which was great fun...
Shame we didn't know about the tour before hand.....
After the KL tower we decided to take a short cut through the back streets to our guesthouse.
But we wished we hadn't!!!!
We ended up passing the back street to all the popular restaurants in the "golden triangle",
and what we saw was far from funny!!!
The rubbish from the restaurants was lined up the streets and it was absolutely crawling with rats.
Never seen so many in one go, must have been hundreds if not more!!!! This street was only about 6 feet from tourists,
they were sat outside unaware and enjoying their dinner.
YUK!!! Needless to say, "Skim" didn't stick around to watch...
After that we ate at restaurants that had their tables under cover!
Having said all that, we did manage to enjoy our stay in Kuala Lumpur ......
No wifi!
Not in the room anyway...

KL looks OK
Well, it's the closest I could come to a witty comment, i.e. several miles away from an amusing one! Blimey. In my day [said the ancient one], it was all low-rise and rickshaws! So, do they have cars there now?? Are the rats fancy rats, or just common or garden or dustbin rats?? It do put a woman off her grub, dunnit? Sounds like you haven't seen the film, 'Ratatouille,' then?? I think rats get such a bad press, ...except for the filthy, diseased vermin that live in the hedge up by Whitecross Roundabout, death to them all! Such is my NIMBY attitude. So, where to next? Are you heading for countryside and local product after bright lights and, er, rats? You are missing shopping madness here, not from me, though. Don't know how you cope with all that warmth: it's a delightful north wind now, with hurricane-strength gusts due later tonight, and lots of very cold, very wet rain. This is as good as it gets, she said glumly... AND the days are very short... But there is still travel spinach!! Just let me know, etc, ... quantity and address, that's all I need. Cheers Jane
