The sunset on the second night- photo taken from the boat.
I've just got back from an amazing weekend sailing around the Whitsunday Islands. I was on a boat, called Boomerang, for two nights. We all got to help out with the sailing of the boat on the first and last day, we didn't do much actual sailing on the second day because there wasn't much wind. As it was such a nice day on the Saturday that we got to go snorkelling in all of the best spots, that are only possible to use about 10% of the year when the weather is good enough. I say we went snorkelling but actually I chickened out again, I gave it another go but I really don't like being underwater, the crew on the boat were excellent though and one of the crew let me go out with him on the jet boat to collect the others and threw rocks into the water so that the fish would come up to the surface and I could see them close up. Back on the boat we saw turtles and a dolphin. We spent some time on Whitehaven beach, the sand is made up of something like 99% silicone and has the texture of snow.
Whitehaven beach. Whitehaven beach. Whitehaven beach.

The view from the lookout.
After a bit of sunbathing (everyone except me because I'm still badly sunburnt) we walked up to the beach lookout. The view is incredible, it's one of the top five most photographed views in the world. I got back to the hostel in Airlie beach today and there was a snake outside my dorm that I nearly trod on.
