Berlin...

Now we had the pleasure of staying with Hanna's parent's house in Berlin. We are now officially spoiled rotten!! Ria and Jochen were so nice and the house was so comfortable and the perfect place to tour the city and enjoy the history listen involved here. Our friends lived through the rise and fall (the younger ones) of The Wall. Goosebumps listening to the recounting of it all.

What a historical place to visit. I have become so enamored with the city of Berlin that Hanna and Manu bought us a book.

Unbelievable visit here! We stayed at Hanna's parent's house. It felt like staying at the Ritz! Ria and Jochen were so great to us. The Wall history is frightening and fascinating, and our friends lived through this historic time. To listen to them tell personal anecdotes of November 9, 1989 is spine-tingling and inspirational!

Fight the Power!!

The citizens of Berlin demolished most of the Wall immediately after the revolution in 1989. Many sections have been used for reconstruction or have been auctioned off to museums and private owners.

This unique memorial is designed to let the visitor walk through the maze of blocks of varying heights until you are below 'city level'. Extremely solemn, yet respectfully created. Controversy still surrounds, however.
