Copacabana is a small town where you go to see the isla del sol.theres not much in it except for trout and a cathedral. very pleasant town but its small and quiet. the cathedral is massive and Moorish apparently.inside is a huge gilt wall/altar thing which is awesome but i couldnt take pix inside as there was the weirdest mass going on. tape recording of some guy wailing and moaning and a dude on his knees in front of the altar acting it out.
sketch.
rented a paddleboat and made our way out into the lake a bit.its really hard work and were lazy so we didnt go nearly as far as we thought but it was funny.an excuse to drink more beer really.

then we go a boat to the Isle del Sol out on Lake Titicaca. its apparently where the Incas were born, according to myth and is a very sacred place. the ruins were just that, ruined. not much to see but alot of history. some rock in this guys garden (which he was tending to at the time) was the sacred 'bleeding stone' where they strangled people, theres a little stone table and stools to watch the sacrifice. theres another island just next to it, Moon Island, where only virgins lived.we didnt get to go.
walked about, met a shaman, saw some more ruins and walked along the trail. we got bored of the trail so we left it and went off in a random direction.People selling crap all down it and it sucks going on a set route taking the set pictures. much better getting lost. saw cool views and woods and found loadsa little hidden villages. its like going back in time, its all so old and simple.people farming and small rock houses, little churches.LOADS of BIG hills to climb.kids carrying heavy crap up and down all these hills everyday.very quiet.might have been 3thousand people on the island but im not sure, seemed alot less.almost missed the boat back too.

was fun, tiring. in Peru now, Cusco, off to see machu pichu in a few days.
yss.
