WislaWislaWisla

one of the rivers in Wisla
hey hey everyone.

well, we've arrived safely to our 'home' in Owinska. we're staying in a ex-monestry with the town church attached(meaning every day we are blessed with the sounds of bells...very very loud bells! sundays are especially fun with the first set of bells starting at 6am. town town, Owinska, is more or less like a typical village you'd think up from a story book. it has the school, the church, local supermarket/deli...although there's three of those, the post office and it also has its own forest, which we have named the PeMa(look in video section for a special production we made). the kids are really nice, and pretty much just kids. when we walk through the school, or even village, we feel like royalty which everybody knowing us as the 'aussies', and 'hellos' being thrown from everywhere. its nice, although thats as far as the conversation goes to.
polish people in the villages are also much friendly than polish people in the big smoke. we even get smiles here.at first we were a bit thrown off as we hadnt experienced a polish smile before.so its much nicer being here!
our room consists of two bed, pretty uncomforatble, a

this is the school bus....impressed much?
bar fridge, a desk, a cubboard....and now, A KETTLE! it also has the australian flag proudly hung at the door way, and a tally of all the polish beers we've tried with a rating! pillows here are seriously a metre squared, and blankets are like hospital blankets, they scratch your skin.
currently we're on a school trip, to Wisla, the bottom of Poland at the base of the mountains. since its autumn here, all the trees are beautiful shades of red, orange and brown. we're staying in a para-olympics training ground, with some famous olympian training here too today, and all the girls swooning over him-its funny! and the blankets here are really nice and soft,,,so we're stealing them for our scrathy ones back 'home'.
ive put some pictures up to, so you can kinda see some stuff here.
oh, we also joined the choir at our school. practice twice a week, and it actually sounds like a really good choir, not crappy australian 'school ensombles'. marina is a really good singer so has 2-4 solos, two of which are in polish which she has to learn and sing by next weekend. they tried to give me a solo for

me attempting to play bochett....badly, although i won two games:)
'i've got rhythm', but i think they must be deaf as well as blind if they actually give it to me after they heard me sing it😊
being the confident tourists that we are, we attempted to go to Poznan the other day. it was, now thinking back, very funny, but at the time a nightmare! we first caught a bus from Owinska, thinking it goes to poznan bus depot, but we ended up in the mindle of nowhere, with no one else on the bus, and a non-english speaking bus driver, yelling something at us...either 'get the fook off my bus', or 'i dont speak english'. either one , he didnt seem friendly. so we got off, then walked abit till we got to poznan plaza, shopped, but then wanted to go the the old markets in poznan. caught the right tram, just the wrong way, so our 10min tram ride took 45mins, and then got stopped by a marching band, and got off, only to discover we didnt know where we were,, again. walked abit more, finally found our destination, so rewarded ourselves with beer, and then got lost going home. so our 8 hour day trip, only
