Today we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle near Fuessen. We had our first real train ride for about 2 hours each way, then took a few buses up to the castle. The weather was cold and rainy but we loved the change from hot Austin weather. The castle is up on a hill and we got several pictures with fog all around. We had to run to make it to our tour and just missed it, but the staff was kind to us American tourists and let us in after all.
We also got to see lots of people on the subway (U-bahn) going to Oktoberfest at 11 am and coming home very drunk at 9 pm. Tanya's Opa (grandfather) told us at lunch today that 6 million people come for Oktoberfest during its 2 week duration. No pictures of that though, but I did get to see alot of women in Dirndl and men in Lederhosen. You can search google to see what we're talking about =)
We'll blog again in Italy!
