Stupid American tourists, pay too much money because "good price for you!!"
We safely arrived in Bangkok after a total air time of 21 hours, quite a whirlwind of a day, but very exciting at the same time. Spent the night after arriving around midnight Thai time (11 hour difference from home), then the next day explored the sights of Bangkok, such as beautiful temples, Tuk-Tuk rides (small 3-wheeled open vehicle) around the crazy, busy, noisy city where they don't take no for an answer (yes, we learned, but this is all a learning experience, right?), long tail boat rides on the river, river water market, jewelry stores (yes, bought our wedding rings!! "good price for you!!"), took overnight train ride to Nong khai, in northern Thailand for orientation. Now in Nong khai Friday-Sunday. Meeting lots of wonderful, nice, gentle, kind people. Learning Thai language, culture, enjoying Thai food, and many smiles in the land of smiles. Staying with various people from all of the world here in the orientation house, 2 from Australia, 1 from Sweden, 1 from France, and other Thais, which have been fun and enjoyable to be around.

New Year Celebration

Little to our knowledge, we were touring Bangkok on their New Year and were able to capture some of the festivities, including this dance in front of a temple.

Monks are highly respected by Thai society here. They live by 275 rules, while the modern Thai lives by 5 rules.
