Machu Pichu - the classic shotMachu Pichu - the classic shotMachu Pichu - the classic shot

This will be the shot everybody take once they enter the site.
Thanks to Hiram Bingham, Machu Pihcu has become the most visited site in Peru, and the most expensive among the new 7 wonders. I have only 4 days to complete my trip to MP and Cusco, hence have not much choice left and was forced to join a one day tour - which is the worst way to visit the site.

The group departed from Cuzco around 8.00am to Ollantaytambo by bus, in order to catch a 2hours train to Aguas Calientes - the ugliest and the most expensive town in Peru. Afterward we took another 30minutes bus ride uphill and when we actually reached the site, it was already 12pm, which is the worst time of the day to take photos. We then have to catch the 4.20pm train back to Ollantaytambo, which means we can have maximum 3hours in this Lost City of the Incas. But bloody hell, we didnt have other choice!

The lost city is really impressive but was crowded with tourists, mostly from North and Soutch America. After listening to the Egnlish speaking guide explaining the history of Machu Pichu for 20minutes at the same spot and he seems like didn't have the intention to move around, I realised that it was just a waste of time to follow the bloody guide if I have only 3hours t complete the site. I also found out that most iof the guided tours have skipped climbing to the cemetery and the cultivation terraces, and just went down to the main square and pyramid in order to save time.

I really envied those who spent a night in Aguas Calientes who managed to spend 2 days at the site and climbed the Wyana Pichu - if you have the chance to visit MP, remember to stay one night in Aguas Calientes, then you will have more time to appreciate the site.

The structures looked well maintained and proved that Incas were good engineers. Perhaps our JKR should send some of their engineers here to study and practice the way the Incas built their infrastructures......

great!
Great to hear that finally u have visited to this great place. This is one of my destination as well, but dunno when i afford to go there..hah..bty, the new 7 wonders have been criticised by many parties as the vote thru the internet is unfair to undeveloped countries like cambodia which the internet still not prevalent. Thats y Egpyt's Pyramid reluctant to take part. I think angkor wat and angkor thomb should be listed as well.
