The Honeydew Melon
Definitely deserving of capitalization, these are absolutely INCREDIBLE :)Hello everyone 😊 Hope all is well. I have now exactly 2 weeks until I fly out (less, if we're counting hours) and am really looking forward to it.
So. I had a great time last week, and the first picture shows a fantastic honeydew melon being held by a friend of mine, Ainura. To be perfectly honest, I don't love honeydew. It isn't bad, but I'd rather have cantaloupe. NOT HERE!!! These things are amazing - so sweet and you can really taste the honey if you get a good one, and honeydew will never taste the same again. Sorry, but it really deserved an ovation.
Next, you have me getting real home remedies a la Kyrgyz. I had a pretty bad cold after getting back from Issyk Kul, and Nazgul and Damira (in the picture) were rather worried. They told me that I had tonsillitis and should lie down for a week. As shown, I had to soak my feet every night and spray this incredibly awful-tasting mixture down my throat all day. I had to drink hot tea with honey or with raspberries, and under no circumstances was I allowed to eat, drink or touch anything
cold. The idea, as I understood it, was to sweat the sickness out, and apparently even putting my hands under cold water could slow the healing process. Which was kind of nice as I wasn't allowed to do dishes 😊 They also insisted that I needed hot milk with honey and melted butter to drink, but I avoided that one. And voila, I am healed, so something must have worked 😊
And now we have pictures from my trip to Osh. The first ones are from the airplane, and I have to say that it is worth it flying in a little propeller plane and sort of hopping over the mountains to get this kind of view. Not recommended for the faint of heart, given that the planes are old and not exactly at a Western-approved standard, but I wasn't too worried.
I met Bryan, a Peace Corps volunteer who used to go to the University of Denver, in Osh. He's been working there for almost two years, and basically knew everyone who passed us on the street. Through him, I got about 10 useful e-mail addresses, and met a lot of interesting students and researchers and generally
had lots of fun. You can see us eating breakfast at Eliza and Tologun's apartment after having watched movies till 4 am and crashing on their floor 😊 Even though I only had 3 days in Osh, I really felt like I got a feeling for the city and the people there. I was welcomed everywhere and made a number of friends who I'm sure I'll keep in touch with. Oh, and there are also a few pictures of Suleiman, the mountain that sits in the middle of the city (well, not exactly a mountain, more like a peak?). It is a holy place, and very beautiful (and hot).

Finally I caught up
I found a use for going to work!!! Reading my cousin's blog, evidently. =) I never wanted to leave comments before cause I was always woefully behind. We miss you, love you, and you look excellent in your pictures! I'm half-tempted to meet you out there - it looks gorgeous! I'm interested in more airplane pics =D they look amazing and I know my dad would be too. Beautiful rugs! We owe them for taking good care of you.
