The Full Moon......
Oh dear..............!! There was rumour that we'd be meeting Chris, Lou, Bish and Kaz the evening they arrived but with them not knowing exactly what time they were getting to Ko Samui and Daz and I still getting over our night bus/boat from Bangkok we decided to hold fire and appear at their hotel the following day.
We thought they'd arrive in the evening and just want to hit the sack; wrong.............they arrived and partied the night away until 5am!!
On the way to their complex about midday on 23rd June there was a bit of nervous excitement going on. Four of our best buds we hadn't seen for ten months; what if we've changed, what if they've changed, what do they look like now after 10months of growth????
What were we worried about; after spotting two Casper look alikes bobbing around in the pool we soon noticed it was Chris and Bish. Hugs and kisses all round as the girls soon joined and after the initial 2 minutes it was as though they'd been travelling with us for all these months!!
Twas so good to have a conversation with people we've known for years and not have to mention
Electrical Engineer, Cambridge just one hour north of London, How old do u think I am?, South Africa Namibia Botswana Zambia Australia New Zealand Bali Singapore Malaysia Thailand..........i'm sure you understand!!
Ok,cut the crap, let's get down to business. I warn ya now, if your reading this wanting to learn things about Asia then you may aswell get back to facebook now because this was two weeks of partying.
First day we had alot of catching up to do and it just so happens that the hotel had an offer of 2-4-1 cocktails all day. There was only one way this was going, we were all feeling it by dinner time and still had the evenings entertainment to endure yet.
This was spent in Chawang and a few random bars. The Award for the evening goes to Mr. Bishop..............After saying my goodbyes to everyone at about 4am in the club i continued to stay until 5am and then make my way home; as i stepped out the club and staggered towards Burger King i spot Lou, Chris and Kaz wondering the streets. "err, what ya doing, i though you'd gone home ages ago" "We've lost Bish"
The Full Moon......
Oh dear..............!! haha god i've missed all this, after devising a plan with a huge bacon double cheeseburger for brain food we decided that he may have gone back mine and Daz's place with Daz. Open the door and no Bish or Daz for that matter. It's a regular occurance to lose Daz on a night out and considering he knew Chawang well by now we weren't worried.
As it turned out Daz was still in the club but Bish was AWOL.
The crew decided to go back to their complex and hope that Bish would make an entrance sooner or later.
Sure enough he did a couple of hours later i think but with tales of having to fight his way via thick, thorny undergrowth to get to the hotel...........................one side of the hotel is on the road and the arse end of it is on the beach...........where did u go??? Nobody knows but a good story to tell in the morning!!
A day off the next day and after that Shaz was arriving. She'd been in Thailand a week already with a tour group where she met Natalie who joined her and us for the remainder of her
The Full Moon......
Oh dear..............!! trip.
It was a bit of a Cilla Black "Suprise Suprise" moment when the two sisters had their reunion. (Shaz lives in Oz and is Lou's sister and hadn't seen each other for over two years).
That evening was also spent in Chawang and the award for that night goes to Chris, Bish and Kaz for jumping in the nightclub pool fully clothed!!
The decision was made we'd venture to Ko Pha Ngan a few days before the Full Moon Party which was approaching on the 29th June.
The boat over was an experience, there was a torrential storm brewing as we left Samui and halfway to Pha Ngan we were in the eye of it. The boat stopped as it was too risky to try and reach land and everyone got absolutely drenched. I'd assured the crew that the weather was great in Thailand before they flew out but they couldn't of picked a worse two weeks!!
I'd been in contact with Victoria, Shona and Stacey (Bali blog) and heard that there was a 'Pool party' going on the night we arrived which was a pre-party to the Full moon (even though it
The Full Moon......
Oh dear..............!! was
still three days away) ((this is Thailand, any excuse to party)).
You can guess where we ended up that evening and the Award goes to Shazza. Oh my god, you've never seen a bruise like it before in your life (see photo).
Our base for the evening was in front of the bar which was a raised platform and the floor was decking (just re-read this sentance and it sounds like a 5 year old wrote it but bare with me). Unlucky for Shaz that one of the slats was missing and it was just a hole into darkness. Of course we were all aware of this as we'd watched people manouvering round it all night, then all of a sudden Shaz sinks into the floor!!!! I think the shock nearly gave her a heart attack bless her and i thought it my duty as a responsible person (!!!) to go and pull her out and comfort her with a 'it'll be alright hug', as this was going on i felt a small pair of hands grip my ankle "what da hells going on"...........Victoria had fallen through the same hole!!!!!!!
The day of the Full Moon
arrived and we were all booked on a boat trip around a National park which also included a bit of Snorkelling and Canoeing.
Daz didn't make the trip as he had pre-full moon nerves and needed to chill out in the day. Can't blame him after the pickle we got in at the last one!!
Once again the weather was a bit naff but with the evenings entertainment just around the corner there was nothing to be sad about. Thanks to Lou for the memory i have of her trying to snorkel ;-)
So here we are, the Full Moon Party 29/06/2007.
I'll just leave you to enjoy the photos!!!!
The award for this one goes to Daz, he ended up in hospital for five days after this one. Tis not what you think though, no stomach pumps needed; he cut his foot at the high casualty pool party and it had now became infected. His foot had swelled up like an Elephants and it was time for him to settle down in front of a 32inch plasma screen all day and watch Wimbledon. What a bummer though, he didn't get to see the crew again.
The Reunion
Two studs and a few Caspers!! That was it, we all ain't 20 anymore and we needed to chill. Destination....... Ko Tao.
Wkd, best island by far that i've been to and ended up staying nearly two weeks. The days were spent sunbathing for 20 minutes and as soon as the rain came UNO took over.
Me, Chris and Bish cruised around the island on a snorkelling trip one of the days in search of sharks (didn't see any)!!
The evenings were spent enjoying chilled out meals and a few Strawberry Daquiris.
Hang on, except for one, the meal was over and we felt the need to party...
..There were three left as daylight was nearing, myself, Chris and Lou. The award goes to all three of us for not being able to walk up a hill on the way home. Admittedly we were all a bit worse for wear but this hill was covered with small stones and the gradient was like a ramp to the moon. Thanks to two random locals on Mopeds who actually stopped and help us all to the top, twas not an easy task with flip flops on (that didn't sound very
What a beauty Shazza
Pool party casualty! eventful but believe us, if you'd have experienced the fits of laughter we did then you know we'd be worthy of the award!!)
Shaz left for home and Nat also flew to Oz to continue her travels. See you both in the not to distant future hopefully.
The final evening i was taking out for dinner for a premature birthday celebration and although we were flirting with the idea of going out i think the fact the crew left at 8am was the deciding factor.
Puka two weeks and then it was time to feel depressed about the amount of money i went through while they were here!!!! See you at xmas freaks.
Daz arrived the afternoon they left so then the journey continued.......
