Hey everyone!
Well this will be my last blog for this part of my summer holidays. Christa and I arrived back early to Singapore at 2am after our flight had been delayed in Phuket. We were to fly out at 8am this morning to come back but chose to change our flight to come back here a day early. Now only two days until I get to spend a lovely 22hours in a plane...how fun!
This is just a short update on what we have been up to as in all honesty, we have been beach bums for the last while and haven't done a whole lot of anything!
After Christa finished her diving course in Ko Tao, we met up with Nico and Aafje (the dutch couple) again in Ko Samui and spent a couple of days with them before the flew off-we had alot of fun travelling with them and were sad to see them go but we will keep in touch and hopefully some day we can go to Holland to visit! Besides hanging at the beach Christa and I were sucked into taking tour package to the Ao Thong National Marine Park. The
park itself was beautiful and we had awesome weather! The tour included snorkling, kayaking and some hiking which was nice. The kayaking was awesome but unfortunately the bay that we were brought to for snorkling wasn't good at all-we couldn't see many fish at all but it was still nice to swim I guess!
The only other excitement we had was that my crock flip-flops were "stolen" (someone may have accidently thought they were theres?!). We had gone for dinner on Ko Samui and as custom, we removed our sandels and left them with all the others at the door, well when we went to leave they were gone...Crocks are very expensive in both Singapore and Thailand. The story gets better though.....The VERY NEXT NIGHT Christa, Aafje, Nico and I went for dinner, well I had no flip-flops left so I wore Christas Crocks...this time the shoes were right beside our table and we get up to leave and they are gone too! We were eating at the Arc which is quite popular and on the beach . While you're eating the locals walk around and try to sell you stuff at your table so we have a feeling
that one of the locals took them. Our waitress said she has seen them do it before-they just talk to you and slide their feet into your shoes and walk off...she has also seen them take wallets etc before! Needless to say, I wore my shoes everywhere after that!
Our last bit of excitement involved me "fighting" with a bus driver yesterday to get our bags off the bus. Christa and I had booked our bus and ferry ride to Phuket at an agent (who we really liked....then!). She showed us pictures of the bus and ferry and were told that the bus had air conditioning etc so we booked the trip. Well, it started off well, we were picked up at 6am on the dot, brought to the ferry dock and that's when it went down hill. The bus she booked us on was something to be deisred-no air conditioning, no TV and more than that it was FILTHY and looked like it was going to break down. We decided that we didn't want to spend 8 hours on a bus with no air so we found another bus, booked our ticket with them but when I went
to get our bags the driver wouldn't give them to me. He said we booked with them so we had to ride with them. I told him no way and that he had our money already so what did it matter....to make a long story short, he wouldn't give me our bags so I said fine, I would get them myself and tried to walk onto the bus to get them...the other driver came over and talked to the guy in Thai and he eventually gave us our bags...after that ordeal and 8 hours of travelling we decided to change our flight and come back early. I will admit, our $10 flight no longer was $10 but it was worth it to get "home" to Singapore.
Well I will sign off for now. See you all soon! Aafje and Nico...your syrup and nibs will be in the mail when I get home! Talk to you soon!
