We woke up early, because our flight was at 5:45. Sally was very sick, and Len wasn't feeling much better. We discussed rescheduling our flight and staying in bed another day, but we were anxious to get home. We got to the airport, bought some imodium, and got on the plane. Luckily, it wasn't full, so we had extra room where Sally could lie down. The first leg of the trip was 3 1/2 hours. We had a one hour stop in Panama City, and then another 3 1/2 hours to Orlando. Sally was getting sicker and sicker with chills and a fever. By the time we arrived in Orlando she had to be taken through customs and immigration in a wheelchair. Not a wonderful ending to an unbelieveable trip! We had hoped to go to Disney World for the July 4th fireworks, but Sally was in bed way before dark! After a few days, she has recuperated, Len's mosquito bites are healing, and we're still in awe of the experiences we had. We had registered with the State Dept. so they could find us in case of a natural disaster or civil unrest in Peru while we were there. Two days after returning, we received an email from the embassy in Lima telling us that the laborers' demonstrations were disrupting travel and making travel dangerous. We have since received 2 more warnings, so our timing couldn't have been better. After seeing how developing countries live, we decided that the one thing we don't appreciate enough is drinking water. You can't drink the water anywhere in Peru, not even the nice hotels. We even had to use bottled water to brush our teeth! We take it for granted that there is always a water fountain nearby, and that's something you simply don't see, even in Panama City. Traveling is such an education! Get out of your comfort zone, and experience the world!

Travel, do it while you can
I've really emjoyed reading about your trip. Sorry to hear that you got sick! It's bad enough tobe sick at home, butmuch worse away from home! I would love to travel, but the cost is a bit too much for me. I hope you get this, but my facebook is not working properly. I'm glad that you can do these things. You learn about how other people live.
