So my last entry from Down Under! We arrived in Perth a few day ago now to the sight of sunshine which was a nice change. The flight over from Melbourne was fine but it wasn't o much fun waiting in the airport from 11pm to 6am, those seats aren't the most comfy to sleep on. The bus tok about 30 mins to get from the airport to the city and we promptly dumped our stuf and headed for the sunshine.

Perth is so different from Sydney and Melbourne, where Melbourne was more relaxed than Sydney, this is in turn more relaxed again. The city is much smaller than others we have visited but that isnt suprising seeing as the population of Western Australia is onl 2 million in total! (For comparison, there are 3 million in Ireland alone). Anyway, we had a walk down the the river which is actually pretty wide and walked along the front beside the park there which is huge, it is a rectangular patch of grass which is just flat and goes on for over a mile! Its quite amazing to see it. We have also been to the other park, 'Kings Park' which overlooks the city and has great views from the war memorial. To get there we followed a path which charted the efforts of Australian soldiers in wars in the Pacific which was quite interesting.

The second day we just had a relaxing wander around the town, just to see what as there ect. We did the same the following day in 'freo' (Fremantle) as the locals call it. I get the impression to talk like a local, all you have to do is use a few cyllables as possible in sentences! Freemantle is where alot of the locals go to the beach and there is also a market at the weekend (which was packed) and a small harbour where you can do whale spotting tours ect. Unfortunately it isn't whale season at the moment. There is also a pub/brewery there where they brew all of their own beer in huge tanks around the bar. When you sit a the tables, you can watch the guys wandering round doing their work brewing the beer, its called 'Little creatures' and I would definately reccomend it to everyone, they do great beer! Other than that we have been relaxing in the sunshine and getting things we need organised for Asia. Well we went to see Harry Potter too, on opening day and everything! It was really packed though as school holidays are on at the moment. The film was good though for those who haven't seen it.

Untill Asia...
