We finally arrived in Melbourne after our flight was delayed for over 3 hours cos the plane was broken! We since found out from the guy on the neighbours tour that Qantas are supposedly the worst airline for having faults on their planes, so we are glad to have our feet on the ground!

We totally wasted our first day in Melbourne which is a shame cos there is so much to do here! We randomly ended up in some pub in the evening to watch Australia in the tri-nations (it was totally dead atmosphere wise, apparently they are not big on rugby union in melbourne!) Anyway, we met some woman there who told us there was a game of Aussie rules on at the cricket ground the next day, so we decided to go along! It seems to be a bit like rugby but with no rules about how they get/throw the ball, and doesnt get held up with lots of penalties and scrums and stuff, so the game is quite good, but was 2 hours split into quarters so it dragged on a bit! The object of the game is to kick the ball through the posts, and if it goes through the 2 centre ones you get 6 points, and if it goes through the centre and a wide post you get one point! Pretty simple game, so we were able to just enjoy it instead of trying to figure out rules! Also saw one of the players pop a lung (well paul did, adrienne must have dosed off for that bit!)

Total highlight of melbourne for adrienne anyway was the neighbours tour, cos we got to meet Karl Kennedy!!!! We also got to meet Rosie, who was lovely, but Karl was the star of the show cos he is totally legendary and everyone wanted to meet him! They were there for ages taking photos and signing autographs and both seemed to be genuinely enjoying it which was really nice! Shame Harold and Paul didnt turn up though! We also got to go onto the street, which is much smaller in real life as they use widescreen lenses to film it! Paul was kept entertained on the bus by the tour guide who realised neighbours is pretty crap and kept making sarky comments all day - exactly pauls thoughts of it all no doubt!

We were going to go to Weribee Zoo today, but they made it totally faffy as you had to book onto tours and no one was answering the phone etc etc. So we ended up going to Bundoora park instead, which is totally designed for kids, so we naturally had a whale of a time! Adrienne got ridiculously excited about riding the tractor into the wildlife reserve, but paul felt out of place sitting on a hay seat but forgot about that when he saw the kangaroos! He also spent all afternoon trying to get a picture of a particularly colourful parrot and a kookaburra, but they always flew away at the exact moment he tried to take the picture!

Leanne, you will love australia - it has a vibe about it that just really makes you enjoy being there, and if you go to Melbourne when you are in aus, you will love all the cake shops lol!
