My best shot of the day and a total fluke!
I can pretty much get day 20 out of the way by saying that it was a travel day! We caught two greyhound buses to San Diego. One from Hollywood to downtown LA (I felt like I needed to spray myself with glen 20 after getting off that bus, luckily it was only a 20 min ride!), then caught our proper bus from downtown LA to San Diego, which was about 3 hours. Nothing at all exciting to report. Bus was crowded and I read most of the way. We arrived around 4.30 and had a quiet evening.

Day 21 - San Diego, Thursday 14 June 2007 - SEA WORLD!!

Today was a GREAT day. We went to Sea World, specifically to see Shamu*, the killer whale and we weren't disappointed.

*None of the killer whales at sea world san diego are actually named Shamu, just FYI. Not sure if the original one was and he's moved on, or not..?

Our first stop was the 'Believe' show where some of the resident killer whales put on a fantastic show. I'm basically going to let the pictures do the talking in this blog and just update you with what we did during the day.

After the Believe show, Toni and I signed up to 'Dine with Shamu', which cost $35 and we got a buffet lunch that was divine and got to eat right next to a private pool with 4 of the whales swimming around. Then the trainers came out, gave us a talk and then got a couple of them to do some tricks for us. So amazing.

During the day we also saw the dolphin show, the sea lions and seals, polar bears, walruses, beluga whales, penguins and many other animals. We did make a slight error in the order of things to do, as we left the two rides until the end of the day. Given the sun was going down by this stage and the rides literally drench you in water (and I mean drench, soak, saturate even!), we were a little wet and cold for our cab ride back to the hotel. The Atlantis ride throws great waves over the front of the car on the ride and T and I just happened to be sitting right in the front. First mistake! Then the Shipwreck rapids sends you down

through a waterfall. Not just a light waterfall, but a full on bucket drenching one! Still, it was a great day!

We're off to the zoo tomorrow!
