Up and packed and ready to go by 6:45. Wasnt getting picked up till 7:10 so still had time to get some breaky.

Unfortunatly the mini bus that was picking me up was considerably late, which made me worry a bit considering I was the only person getting picked up by that particular company. Thankfully it arrived and 30 min late and we were off to pick up more people from other guest houses.

we arrived fully loaded with people to the topur company office where we boarded the very olod rickety bus that was to take us to the Thai boarder.

Dispite the ticket vendors stateing it was an airconditioned bus the only "air conditioning" was via the open windows. We were soon on our way and it was to take us 5 ours on the incredibly bumpy dirt roads to the boarder. no one can work out why the roads are so bad between Siem reap and the Thai boarder but some people recon its the air companies bribeing the local goverments so that people are forced to fly into Cambodia.

Anyway the journey was rather straight forward despite the bumps and a slight detour as one of the bridges was out (a bit of congestion down a dodgy dirt track as everyone tried to avoid the bust bridge) In fact at this point we all had to lighten the load and dismount from the bus as the other bridges on this detour route were rather flimsy.

We stopped for lunch and it was then I discovered how dusty I was from all the red sand being blown in through the open windows. Also as I made my way to the loo during the lunch break I failed to notice the wet cement sign just outside the cafe. So if you ever take a bus to Siem Reap and stop off at a crap cafe and there are size 12 footprints outside the gents, they're mine.

Finally we made our way to the boarder town and crap hole Poipet. All mud roads and rubbish everywhere. But once we cleared immigration we suddenly found ourselves on clean tarmaced roads in Thailand. Here we took a mini bus (very cosy and this time airconditioned) to Bankok. The journey only took 4 hours but was scary at times as the nutter driver seemed to like to play chicken with on coming traffic.

Finally made it to bankok in one piece and I checked in to a guest house (my house) just off Soi Rambutri. Got showered and went for a bit to eat down the road. Then wondered down Khao San and spent a ridiculous amount of time shopping for dodgy CDs and talking to a cool british indian chap about what CDs to get.

So you really left your mark at that cafe! Could even say you made a good impression! I'll get my coat...
