Day 8:
Geez the men in Italy are pervy even at 8am in the morning! Morning glory perhaps?
Anyways, I sat at a cafe and ordered my usual croissant and cappuccino. The croissant had a sweeter taste than usual...ah, it's filled with some kind of jam. I prefer the croissants in Paris...flakier and buttery.
I visited the Basilica Di San Marco. Beautiful. And the tourists love the pigeons here. They let the pigeons sit on their head, their arms and just hang out. They're smiling and laughing while taking pictures. One word...parasites. I'm a pigeon snob. I took a picture of me trying to kick one. (PETA...I did NOT actually kick it. It's the ACTION of kicking it =) The inside of the Basilica was gorgeous as well. It took me the second try to get in. Since I was wearing a tank top, my shoulders had to be covered so I had to buy a scarf from a vendor.
I then decided to do laundry. 6 Euros for 1 load! And 3 Euros for drying (still wet) the first round so I had to add another 3 Euros to compltely dry my clothes. 12 Euros
total! I suppose it's better than smelling like funk. Right?
I met a great older couple (Frank and his wife) from Chicago while we were waiting for our laundry. I helped them figure out the complicated process of doing laundry in Europe. Frank informed me that a single gondola ride is 80Euros! The guy didn't even sing for him for his birthday. It costs extra for you to have a gondola driver (?) who sings! Frank mentioned that he and his wife are going to Tuscany. I decided that I'm going to try to go. I'll figure it out once in Florence. Perphaps a day trip?
