My view as I sunbathed by the lagoon!
I feel thisa adequately shows the weather on my birthday !lol! Well, Airlie beach is where everyone goes to sail the Whitsundays, but seeing as its expensive and I dont like boats, we missed this out but went to Airlie Beach anyway! It was also an overnight 10 hour journey to get there! Whilst here, it was my birthday (yay!) and so we went for all you can eat Chilli, and can you believe I only managed half of one bowl, I still cant believe it! lol! so we went out for my birthday, and had cake in the form of a big pastry from Laura! It was awesome! he he! That is really all there is to Airlie beach! lol! you cant swim in the sea anymore up this part of the coast because of stingers and sharks so they build lagoons by the sea instead, or have a swimming net!
From here we went to Townsville for a night before Magnetic, except when we got there it was Anzac Day (their rememberance day) and everyone in the whole town was wasted! It was too late for Laura and I to join in, so we walked round feeling a little lost! lol! They have some good stuff there though
Snorkling!
This was the beach where we went snorkling..the dark patches are the reef like a free gym along the beach and outdoor barbecues (as is the aussie way!).
Wasting no more time here, we got the ferry from here to Magnetic Island, which was gorgeous! We stayed in a hostel on the beach which by anyones standards was pretty awesome! The island is tiny and a great place to snorkel, being on the edge of the barrier reef! we also went Kayaking here, but lasted maybe 20 minutes! we kept having to stop and when the girls who got their kayak out just before us went in, we felt we could then too! ha ha! We also hired a topless car here(fully clothed i should add!) which was lauras first proper abroad driving, although they drive on the same side of the road so does it still count?! lol! she did a good job though! and we were told of a great place to snorkel but its about an hour walk and you cant take hire cars, so we walked up and down these hills to get there! It was torture, but we saw our first part of the reef which made it worth it! but then we had to walk back....we
Our car!
This was our hire car! we asked for pink! must have looked in pain though as a couple stopped and gave us a lift to our car! lol! The nights in magnetic were good, although there was only our hostel as there is nowhere else to go! our night drive on the island consisted of us finding a place where the people seem to have left and the birds sounded like screaming! and then we got lost on the way back...It was scary and we were not going to repeat it!
After this, It was onto Mission beach for one reason only...SKY DIVING! 14,000 feet! It was the most amazing thing! The plane ride going up was terrifying as you just gi higher and higher! and I will never forget Lauras face as they told her we were only at 5000 feet! Shuffling to the plane to jump out was so scary too! but then you fall out the plane and its just amazing! One of the best things I have ever done! I will try and upload the dvd! Our hostel was also pretty funny, we had little mermaid bedding, they made you leave your shoes outside and if you were caught not cleaning up after yourself,

I don't leave comments because you phone twice a week and text alternate days.I don't speak to you that much when you're home. I am pleased that you are all having such a whale of a time, these expieriences will stay with you for ever. Its good that you managed to meet Laurence and Ben whilst out there. Anyway the postman has arrived with my copy of "A Town Like Alice" so i'm off! Dad xx
