Went to see Shanghai home time play on Sunday night at the Hongku Stadium. Cant remeber who they were playing against now. I'm usless with names. The final score was 2-2 and the game was watchable in spells. The ticket cost 50RMB and stadium i think had about 10,000 fans inside. Never seem any offical figures to confirm this or the total capacity of the stadium, which was about a third full.
Dui We the celtic legend plays for shanghai and is their captain and talisman. After 5mins the home team were behind and about 25mins in tragedy struck as Dui We collided with the oppisitions star striker, head first. After putting a hair net over his head and a scary amount of vasline on his cut, he continued on to the appluse of the home fans.
Shanghai equaliser just before this and the game plouded along till half time. The crowd was quiet for the most part. The away fans were small, but loud and only small pockets of the home fans bothered to show support for their team. Some people i noticed didnt even come to watch the game. They just sat and played cards or mahjong with their friends.
The game finished 2-2 after dui we's defensive partner underhit a back pass and the small african sticker who just cam on rounded the keeper to score. Was glad to leave as i was getting bored watching the game. Glad i made the effort though.
Was told by a few people before and after the game that shanghai had a player who played in scotland. I always say yes, he played for glasgow celtic. I was corrected by almost everyone, who insisited he played for dundee utd. They are the most famous scottish team. Its amazing how one wrong fact can become the truth to so many people. Some even called them the arabs.
