It should be pretty obvious that the night before a full day tour of the Sacred valley, with a 7am start, that you shouldnt spend the night boozing at Flahertys Irish bar - but thats what these two paddys decided to do and we suffered for it......ah well another lesson learnt!

The Sacred Valley took us to 3 different Inca sites and villages, all of them were so individual and Pisac and its local market were particularly cool...all the locals out doing there thing...meat being chopped on the street and all sorts being sold...pretty hectic place...We were constantly moving up and down from altitude, one minute its 28 degrees and the next its a chilly 8/9 degrees...and once again we were knackered trying to climb the steps, after 4/5 you get so short of breath etc...we´d learnt from the previous days tour of cusco and the ruins about the varying weather..basically everyone jumped on the tour bus with their t-shirts and sunnies on but when we jumped off about 4 hours later everyone had poncho´s, all sorts of peruvian jumpers, hats and blankets...it decided to pour down at one point, and of course every local seemed to be flogging
The bar...The bar...The bar...

Seemed like a good idea at the time, but we were regretting it 8 hours later...
these poncho´s basically a bin liner with a hole for ur head...jen and I were reluctant to buy (a) cos we re irish and we assumed we´d cope with the rain and (b) cos we re tight with our money...basically by the time we´d parted with about pound for them we were already soaking...its amazing how the old budget leaves you so tight fisted!!!

The views at all the sight we visited were stunning, as you´d expect at 4500 metres and hopefully Macchu Picchu will be every bit as amazing when we leave for there tomorrow....we knew nothing really about the Inca period before we came and if we´re honest we haven´t learnt an awful lot since...the guides for all their effort speak really broken english and apart from learning that the spanish invaders are to blame for the Inca decline in somethin like 1533 everything else they discussed seemed to be about potatoes??? maybe that was just the effects of our hangover...

Along the way between the sites we stopped at a little peruvian restaurant for lunch and David once again thought he´d act the big skin and try the local meats....Alpaca meat and guinea pig...should ve

Cold and wet...still grinning though..
stuck to chicken...took a full 20minutes to chew the alpaca piece, needless to say the rest stayed on the plate...rank...

Cusco is a really cool place and everything about is so quaint, whether its the people or the cobbled streets....

tomorrow morning where off to Macchu Picchu for 2 days...just to see what all the fuss is about - we ll report back later in the week with more pics and let you know the craic from it...

Over and out...
