After 3 days of heavy rains in Koh Tao, we are about to set off for Bangkok. Our last night in Koh Tao, we experienced a great thunder storm, it was right over our heads, I've never heard anything to deafening. The sky was lit up like day. Even though everything is damp, its still warm and still very beautiful. Sad to leave Koh Tao. Will definitely come back and do a full dive course. You can rent a house for $250 a month. A new scooter for $80 a month. A Thai meal say Basil and chilli chicken with rice is like $2 to $3.
Rob loves the prices of Singa beer, large bottle $2.20.
The waters around Koh Tao are so clear, what I saw snokelling was fantastic, schools of tropical fish, nice coral. Just imagine scuba diving on a sunny door. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side.
We left Koh Tao by ferry and then night bus to Bangkok, arriving at 5.30am. Lena's slept the whole night. Lucky girl.
Yesterday, we spent shopping as you do in Bangkok. Birthday boy got spoilt. Brought "ANIKE" watch for $20. We have been using the public bus system as you get exhausted haggling with the taxi & tuk tuk drivers. The bus is like 30 cents to go anywhere. Rob and Lena have gone to see Spiderman 3. I am in Khoa San road to get my laundry done for $4 for 4 kgs of smelling, damp clothes washed. YUK!
Last night we ate with the locals, had BBQ meats cooked at your table with heaps of vegs and noodles. Very nice. No problems with rear-end. As we walked back to the guest house, came across vendor selling grasshoppers, beetles, grumbs, all honey coated. No body is starving in Thailand. The food has been just fantastic.
Tomorrow start doing the touristy sight seeing of Bangkok
