Arenal Volcano
The view to Arenal volcano from the cooled lava slide from a previous eruption in 1992!!! Bussed it with the locals to La Fortuna for five hours and what a nightmare....it was like 35 degrees, no aircon, a hundred people packed in to the bus, David´s knees were round his neck, sweat blinding us and the bus broke down about six times....never again....arrived and booked into a really nice hostel with a swimming pool and stayed in a dorm to save a few squids....the bad thing about dorms is that if the toilet doesnt work that well and you were the last to use it when it broke...its pretty embarrassing...the blame lies with you and you have to sort the problem out...everytime you flushed the toilet, in our heads, the Jaws theme tune would come on, as small droplets of sweat form on our brows whilst panicking whether the toilet will work or not....
The scenery was amazing...Arenal volcano soars up into the sky and constantly has a stream of smoke coming out of it...like a chimney.....we took a hiking tour to the volcano but you can only get about 40 metres close to it and you can hear the rumbles of thunder of the rocks and lava coming shooting out of the top of the
Jenni On Lava Rock
Jenni on one of the broken up pieces of lava rock... volcano and bouncing down the side of the mountain....once the sun set, the volcano lights up and is bright red with the lava streaming down the outside of it...tried to take a few photies but unfortunately they didnt come out...
We left the volcano and went to a hot springs resort which was just class....there were steaming hot pools and waterfalls everywhere which are about 40 degrees celsius and we were able to chill there and had access to the free pool bar which was an added bonus. After the springs, we then headed into the hotel for a massive buffet which was delicious....We had like five courses each and nearly had to be airlifted out of there....
The following day, we went white water rafting...we were sitting in the back of the minibus and there was a couple in front of us. Another couple jumped on and shouted "Who all here´s on their honeymoon? We are!" And the other couple jumped up screaming "So are we!!" And they all started screaming and jumping about on the bus and for the rest of the day..it was all about wedding cakes, dresses, etc and me and David might as
Hot Springs...
Chilling at the awesome hot springs... well have been non existent. We sat at the back of the bus in complete silence being completely ignored...It was pretty funny! The white water rafting was cool but the river was low as it is dry season so it wasn´t as much fun as we thought it was gong to be....rock on New Zealand for white water rafting!
Next stop...Monteverde for ziplines through cloud forests, canopy tours and rainforest hiking!!!
