My "Homie" suit from New York can't quite stand the torrent of water
We say goodbye to Emma and grab an overnight sleeper to the newest Country in the world. Montenegro is only 9 months old since it declared independence from Serbia.

We arrive in Bar with torrential rain, as I had the homey waterproof gear Daz and I bought in New York, I was assigned to find out how to get to Kotor. (see pic of me in the rain and my Homey gear. I just needed some Bling to make the set)

Well it turns out my waterproof gear was not so waterproof with torrential rain and I was soaked to the bone by the time I found where the buses left from. Oh well 5 bucks can’t buy quality in New York.

Kotor was amazing, an ancient town with massive mountains behind it. A huge wall was built to the tips of the mountains to protect the town from invaders. Cam and I walked up this wall and had sweeping views of the inlet and snow capped mountains. Quite breath taking.

We only spent two nights in Montenegro as we needed to make tracks down through Albania and onto Greece as we have booked our flights back to London from Athens.

On turning upto the bus station in Podgorica (around 10km from the Albanian border), we were informed that there were no Busses to Albania full stop. Well we were in a bit of a fix.

We have heard a few people on our travels ask why the hell were we going to Albania, and to be careful as it’s the poorest of all the countries of this region.

A guy comes up to us and explains that he can take us via taxi to the border, meet up with his “Albanian” mate to continue into the country.

Well with no real other choices, we accept. (The boarder crossing by cab to be continued in the next blog)

Border Crossing
My family lives on the border in Montenegro, I could have got them to help you cross over. You should have stayed longer in Montenegro, though it is best explored in warmer weather. Albania is poor but it is a very hospitable nation, especially towards outsiders. There are many dangers but just keep your wits and you will be fine.
