At 3am the bus stopped for food- I didn't eat. At 10 we had arrived at Hue and as we were late had missed the coneting bus so had to wait till 1.30 to get the next bus. We did a bit of sight seeing around Hue which has an old walled citidel. But again everything was shut I think this time as it was some holiday. Also as we hadn't had much lunch we gave up and went and had lunch. At 6pm we finally arrived in Hoi An went out for dinner and a drink but everything is very quite here.

Hoi An is a quaint old town which is very pretty. I like it alot here- the other reason I like it is every other shop here is a bespoke tailor or cobbler. I have found it very hard to restrict myself to only what I need. Yet I still have ended up with-

flip flops
2 pairs of flat "school" shoes both pairs I designed myself
2 pairs pointy shoes (made specially with small heal!)
1 pair of knee high boots (with little heal!!)
A beautiful brown cord jacket- I'm very upset that its too hot to even think about wearing it
A pair of Jeans- except I'm going to have to do some adapting as the jean material is too perfect at moment
Some brown summery trousers with embroidery
A skirt with a painting of Vietnamese women on it
Not to mention the embroidered bags I bought in the sale- they were from a shop that trains disadvantaged or disabled children.

All that for under 100pounds.

As well as shopping I have aslo been arund some of the old sites. Lots of them are nice buildings but you don't find out much about the people. One, however, the Tran Family's Chappel had a girl showing us around. She explained about the shape of the arcitecture and how the main door is only opened 2ce a year for the spirits of their ancestors and that the right side door was for men and the left for women but when they became equal the left one got shut. She explained that the wodden boxes have 2 tablets in them stating the persons birth and death and on the anniversary of their death they are placed in the center of the shrine and prayed to. Once they had photos they stoped using the boxes and use the photos for memories insted.
