After flying into Phnom Penh on Thursday night, a tuk tuk driver took me to my guesthouse (Sunday Guesthouse). It was funny seeing the motorbikes driving in all directions weaving in and out of each other. Straight to sleep as I had an 8am bus trip to the beach town of Sihanoukville. Due to Chinese new year on Saturday, finding a place to stay proved difficult but I found a place downtown for 3 nights. After walking around town on Friday afternoon, I took a 30 minute stroll to the beach in the evening. I sat at the Eden bar at 8pm for dinner and drinks and left there at 3am after quite a few $1 beers. The sound of firecrackers woke me early on Saturdayand I witnessed the new year customs as I walked around town. A motorbike taxi took me to the beach where I spent the afternoon walking along 5km of beautiful beach. In the evening, I stayed in and watched 3 football matches. Up early on Sunday to watch NBA all star weekend before going to Victory Beach for the day. After another night in watching football, I checked out on Monday morning and moved to a guesthouse near Serendipity Beach. After spending all afternoon on the beach, I went out to a couple of bars on the beach until 5am. On Tuesday, I went to the beach for a few hours, had a siesta, had dinner and hung around the guesthouse for a bit. Then I set my alarm for 2.30am to watch Champions League football. Wednesday was a carbon copy of Tuesday. Another day at the beach on Thursday before going to a bar (Frogshack) in the evening. Got chatting to quite a few people from all over the world, lost a couple of games of killer pool and strolled home along the beach at 4am. Didn't feel great on Friday so just hung around the guesthouse, watched a couple of movies, used the internet and updated my journal. On Saturday morning the beach looked perfect. You could only see a handful of people along the whole beach, the sky was clear and there were no waves in the sea - just tranquil ripples. I spent all afternoon on the beach again and went to a bar in the evening. There were not many people out so I just sat and watched football with a French guy who worked at the bar. Sunday was basically the same as Saturday. On Monday, I walked around town for a bit before walking up and down the beach.
