We had a very busy day on day 2 in Singapore. In the morning we headed off to Julong Bird Sanctuary. An early start but worthwhile. We were lucky enough to see a lot of different birds such as Maw Caws, Birds of Paradise and a Toucan. We went to see the show held at the auditorium and enjoyed seeing the birds walk on and off the stage without restraint and they seemed to enjoy the show. After a quick lunch we headed out to Sendosa Island. This involved getting onto a chair lift which proceeded to gain pace and then we were launched out over the tropical shrubbery below. After Endel scraped Barb off the ceiling (yet again) we moved on for about 10 seconds and the STOPPED. This was much to Barbs distress as well as another man from Manchester who was equally uncomfortable. Endel is usually scared of heights but his arm was turning purple and he was in too much pain to notice the height as we swung and waited for the carriage to start. After a little while we started to move and passed between two buildings called The World Trade Centre (One wonders why the name does not make Barb feel very confident) and once again the carriage gained speed and sent us onwards dangling over water far below. eventually we arrived at Sentosa Island and greatfully we alighted off the cable car and onto solid ground. We went and seen the aquarium(following our tour guides purple umbrella). There was a lot of people on the Island and we had to keep a very close eye on that purple calendar. Lyndal headed off to see a 4D short movie and Endel and Barb sat down to a much needed coffe to settle the nerves. We then followed the purple umbrella down four escalators and then up 10 floors on a lift to stand on top of a very tall lion's head for a view of Singapore on one side and Indonesia on the other (once Endel scraped Barb fron the pole she was glued to. ( I think there is a theme flowin thru this blog) The view was magnificent overlooking the water, the port (the busiest in the world) Ther can be as many as 100 plu ships of all sizes in the bay, Singapores many high rise buildings and the busy skyline of Indonesia. We then gathered en masse (follow the purple umbrella) and watched a wonderful fountain show. This show involved the fountains, laser light, music, super imposing images onto a water background, fire and an actor. We have not seen anything like this and really enjoyed the experience. The gardens of Sentosa were beautiful and there was many attractions which we did not see during our short stay. After the show everbody left the Island at the same time and we cannot describe the amount of people which moved together to find their buses. We closely followed our purple umbrella and found our bus amongst approx 150 buses as well as many taxis. It was unbelievable the mass of humanity. (Thank goodness for the purple umbrella) We arrived home tired but happy and look forward to tommorrows flight to Phuket.
