10th Feb Christchurch to Humner Springs.

On leaving Christchurch headed for H.S. Feeling weary decided to drive till
14-00.the weather was pretty miserable dull overcast.
Humner springs famous for it its hot springs and spas just had to go, on arrival only accom was a dorm bunk, for such a small, place so busy especially on a dull day okay if wanted 5* no problem, budget accom in very short supply. Went to the springs at 17-00 a bit chilly to say the least, the springs temp range from 25C to 41c .had a relaxing 2hours tried all the temps but could only take 41c for 15mins, ideal temp was 36c.
The springs lie on a fault so water rises to the surface at 52c too hot so they put it through a heat exchanger to regulate the temps .had a relaxing 2 hours.
Afterwards went to the pub/café for dinner. Met a couple of interesting Kiwis who were on a boys weekend, they had driven their motorbikes down through a dirt road on the largest farm in NZ 185,00 hectares containing 10,000 cattle. Apparently the roads are only open a couple of times a year to the public so they were taking advantage to have their adventure and were returning to Christchurch in the morning.
Turned out that one Peter was a dental technician and had a long chat about my predicament of my implant failure, that’s apart form kiwis rugby .On TV the Crusaders were playing the Reds (Australia)
From there went back to the hostel to find a bloody Japanese git had taken my bunk which meant I had to go mountaineering to have the last available bed, grumble, grumble.
