Night view
Brisbane city as seen from the boat On Saturday Night we attended a wedding aboard the Kookaburra River Queen paddle boat. There are two boats - one 3 levels, one 2 levels. The boats have been around since 1986 and 1988 offering trips up and down the Brisbane River for lunch or dinner and for functions and parties. We were on the smaller one, but had the whole boat just for the wedding reception. It was a wonderful evening.
Enjoyable, Intimate and lots of fun. There were about 60 people, so a nice little group. We took the baby with us and of course she was doted on and spoilt very much. However, when she fell to sleep - we had nowhere to put her except for on the ground!! So a few of the waiters got a surprise when serving our table. Half the table would jump and say "watch out for the baby". They offered some pillows to put her on, but failed to come back with them - the staff probably got caught up doing something else, and the baby got woken up not long after by some of the speeches and by an individual doing the Haka (traditional Maori dance).

the dock and the boat The only drawback of the evening was, that it was extremely hot and humid. So most of us were sweating away. The fans just did not cool the function area well enough. Mind you it is the middle of Summer, so it is to be expected. We did experience some nice relief when we were able to sit on the very top of the boat and watch the city and scenery go by, in the soft breeze. That was the most magical part of the night for me. Just to sit and watch it all go by - so relaxing!! I was so glad I got invited to the wedding!! I was only invited because my husband was the Bishop that married them!! So I will consider myself lucky.
We have only just started experimenting with our camera and were trying our hardest to do some good night shots. I am not sure that our camera can do quality night shots, but I will keep trying. So that will explain the lack of photos. Sorry there are no photos of the happy couple as we only took 3 and none of them worked out too well, also I

not looking so good - it was very hot remember didnt get their permission to post their photos for the world to see.
As usual the photo's just dont do the night justice - I dont think photos can catch the lapping of the river, the stars, the lights of the city, Kangaroo Point Cliffs and the overall ambience of the whole trip, so you will just have to believe me how nice it all was.
A Perfect Midsummers Night.

So you enjoyed it, huh? The grade above ours in school went on it for their formal and they all came back complaining! That dress looks stunning, who got married?
