A very early start was required on Wednesday morning as I was working in Great Dunmow at 8am. The upside of this was that I could leave the office at 4pm.

Wayne was waiting for me when I finally arrived at about 4.30pm and whisked me off to London in his car.

We parked near the Tower in a very reasonable car park (only £2 all evening after 7pm I think!). We walked over Tower Bridge and followed the river down. Stopping lots so I could take photos with my new camera (an early birthday present from my mummy - thank you).

It was very beautiful, with all the lights and the river. We headed down towards the Tate Modern and ended up at the London Eye. The walk was really lovely and the cold was not unbearable (it was very cold- Wayne even had a jumper on!!). Wayne had decided to take me on the Eye, so we joined the queue (of 2 other people) got our tickets and went to board.

After being checked for sharp objects and alcohol we boarded our pod (there was virtually no queue again). The wheel takes about ½ hr to go around, and the views of London are absolutely brilliant. It was a lovely clear evening so we could see for miles. The city looks beautiful (and very peaceful) from up high at night. All the buildings were lit up.

We crossed the river and walked towards Soho area (and vaguely to where the car was). We passed a Sushi shop, and as I had claimed this was the only food I didn’t like (based on the fact that it is raw fish), but had never tried, Wayne decided to stop and buy us a couple of pieces to keep us going til we found a restaurant. For my first Sushi experience (even tho I was starving!) I was very surprised. It was yummy - and I promised to try some another time!

We eventually found an Italian restaurant that looked nice. I had a mozzarella, tomato and avocado salad followed by prawn and tomato pasta. This and a beer and I was absolutely stuffed! I think the sushi, whilst lovely, had expanded in my tummy and I felt very bloated. We decided the best thing was to carry on walking after dinner and headed to the car. We probably walked for about 2 hrs I guess!

Wayne drove us back and I was so tired I fell asleep in the car. We got in at 11pm, not that late really considering all the things we had done, but it felt more like 1am. I was exhausted, and went straight to bed and continued my sleep.
