Updating the blogs on the internet here on the ship. Its really slow and cost a fortune so wont put any photos on for now.

Woke up early to catch a 6.30am transfer to the airport for our flights at 8.45am. Arrived at airport and after waiting in line for half an hour heard whispers about something to do with a delay to 4.30pm! So yes we confirmed the rumor they were having technical difficulties and the plane would not leave until at least 4.30pm. As we were getting on a cruise we had to get there earlier. So what eventually happened is they put us in a cab and we drove for and hour to the next airport in San Jose and we ended up catching the 9.30am plane to Hawaii from there. They said they would hold the plane for us and once we got there we checked our bags in but that lucky us we were picked for extra security. So after been padded done, gone through our bags and tested for drugs we finally got on the plane.

So we arrived in Honolulu at about 1pm and our luggage was first out, all four bags at once. But then we waited another hour for our transfer to the pier to arrive. So once again we prob got onto the ship at 3pm. After finding our room we went for a walk to check things out and I noticed pretty quickly that this cruise was not gonna be a re make of my P&O cruise when I was 19. I would have to say that 80% of the people are over at least 60 or 70. I just keep laughing to myself what am I doing here. It is quite funny. So Nan would fit right in on board the ‘Pride of Aloha’. Most people are American so they are always referring to the states in America. There are lots of old people in shorts with pale legs and varicose veins. There are also people with walkers, wheelchairs and walking sticks. So we don’t really fit in here, but are still making the most of it.

So first thing we did was go to our mandatory port briefing with our life jackets thing. Next we went up to the sail away party and worked out what tours we were going to do for the week. The cruise works by porting at a Hawaiian island each day and traveling to the next overnight. So not a lot of time actually on the ship, more time on the islands. Each island has heaps of tours to choose from. So what we have done is booked in some kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, volcano tour, rafting tours.

The hula lesson had started so I got up and gave it a go. So much fun. So we booked our expensive tours and went down to the restaurant for our fancy 3 course meal. Had a spa before going to bed at 11pm. (2 hr time difference from California so really 1am for us- gotta try and get used time again).

Finally we got to use our shorts, singlets and tees that we have carried all around America. So got into the holiday skin straight away! So we have put all our long pants and jumpers back into our suitcases and into the back of the closet. The weather is really humid and sticky. Hasn’t been much sun, and we have seen a little rain.
