After the fog that plagued London airports before Christmas, we were lucky to have clear weather to fly to Brussels on Boxing Day. No sales for us, it was off to the land of chocolate, beer, mussels and fries with mayo. Yum.

Luckily enough, the Christmas markets in Belgium are open after Christmas so there were still lights, waffles, sausages, crepes and other delights for the senses on offer. The main square in Brussels was particularly impressive with a sound and light display every fifteen minutes, turning the historic buildings of the square colours that were never imagined when they were constructed. It even started to snow the first night we wandered through the town square which made it feel particularly Christmassy. The snow did not last, and the rest of the time the weather was either cold, wet or cold and wet.
