Hello 2007!

I joined the one million or so revellers surging around the Sydney Harbour Bridge in time to witness the famous firework display. It was the largest pyrotechnic display ever in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the bridge's opening. Getting a good vantage point was impossible so we scrambled up to above the Rocks area and could see the bridge side on. My photos a few years ago from the luxury of McMahons Point Tower were far superior but long lost. However, the few shown here give the flavour of the evening but most images were lost in the darkness.

Sydney certainly knows how to party. Bars and restaurants were buzzing and as we walked along Kings Wharf after midnight there were live bands competing with each other in adjoining restaurants with revellers bobbing and dancing and living it up. Harbour cruise boats, nearly all decorated in some way to honour the Harbour Bridge's 75th anniversary were delivering their passengers onto the wharf by the hundred and the atmosphere was electric.

Along in Darling Harbour it was the same story with restaurants still busy as hundreds and hundreds of people milled around laughing and singing on their way home in every direction.

Health and happiness to all for 2007!

Happy New Year!
Thanks for the lovely pics and descriptions - it sounds fab! Glad you had a good time. Paul, his friend Ian and I had a good night at a local country pub - they were doing a disco and buffet, and I was able to dance much more than usual. We all gathered round and sang the New Year in via TV - the fireworks over London looked pretty good, and we were able to do the countdown and hear Big Ben with all the revellers there. I wish you everything good for 2007. Love, Primrose.

Looks brilliant
Well I bet you didn't have the rain and gale force winds we had. We saw the new year in a fabulous marquee in South London for a mates wedding but there were times when we thought we were going to take off and fly to someone to someone elses garden. Have a great 2007 Linda.
