Santa hat and Bikini, need I say more! Hi guys. I'm sorry I've been so rubbish in updating you all. I have had internet troubles, eg lack of. I have been trying to find internet cafes with wireless in Sydney, but believe it or not they are not in abundence. So annoying. Anyway, here I am now.
Since our last catch up I have been up to quite a lot. On the 18th I began my travels around Australia. Firstly I went up to Port Macquarie. It is a small seaside town up the east coast. I am very well aquainted with greyhound buses now too. I was meant to stay there 2 nights but it was pretty dull, so I only stayed 1 night. I think I was finding it hard to adjust to small quiet towns when I'm so used to the City. It was a really friendly hostel though. So the next day I carried on up to Byron Bay. Now here I had such a wicked time. I partied way too much. It is by the sea again and I stayed in the YHA hostle which was really cool. We had a pool and everything. Which is very good for me because I have a

There is at least one Aussie in this group! hatred of sand. I am now accepting that sand is going to be a part of my life for the next year, but it is hard. Unfortunately it did rain a bit there. I was not going to admit that cos I know you'll all be laughing, I come all the way to Oz just for it to rain. I got absolutely soaked one night after leaving a club called Cheeky Monkeys (we went there a lot). Anyone who has ever been to Byron will know this place. There is no dance floor, only long metal picnic-like tables, which you dance on. You have to sign a disclaimer when you go in for health and safety! I saw one girl fall off, she was pretty ming-bats so she didn't seem to notice any injury, although I sure she felt it in the morning! I drank quite a lot of tequila there (headache central the next day). I met Jill (who I did my nurse training with, those who don't know her). Jill is travelling with her boyfrind Bob, but she left him in Brisbane for a girly week. We had lots of fun. It was so great seeing a famililar

Althogh thre looked like there was a headland further out. This is me, Jill and an Irish girl called V. face. We had a surf lesson. I think we were brill at it (or 'rippin'!!!) I stood up and everything this time. I have some photos but Jill has the cd so I'll put them up when I get them. We did a long walk to the lighthouse, but that was about the only activity we did.
After Byron we went down to Coffs Harbour for 2 nights. It was a good place to. Made some Irish and English friends and went out on one of the nights. There was a big banana to see there but didn't make it. Partly due to my hangover. I've mets lots of great people since I've been over here. Lots and lots of Irish (mainly lads, they travel in gangs!), also Europeans. Got quite a few numbers now. Only met 2 Aussies actually. In hostels its not as easy to mingle with the locals! But now I'm back in Sydney I'm sure it will be easier.
So Next thing was xmas. My mum was meant to be arriving at 6.30am on xmas day, but her flight got delayed so she didn't get in til 7pm. I was gutted. I stayed in a

This needs no more description! hotel (NOT hostel) on the 24th and went to my first ever midnight mass at the cathedrel. It was my first night on my own in 6 weeks. I am so sick of bloody creaking bunk beds and shared kitchens. Gets too much after a while. So I was gonna get up really early and meet mum at the airport. So After a phone call to my mate Rob I then spent xmas day at Manly on the beach sunbathing. Even though it wasn't what I had expected, it was a really good day. Rob got me a santa hat which I was forced to wear all day! We had a picnic type lunch a couple of drinks. I met mum at the airport then we had a lovely xmas dinner togther just by the opera house. It is so great having her over here.
We went to watch the start of the Sydney-Hobart yacht race on boxing day from a paddle staem boat thingy. Also did a lot of Boxing day sales shopping. Our hotel was right in the centre of the shops, not good for the bank balance.
So now after I finish on the intetnet me

Me, Rob and some of his friends. and mum are going to go to the airport and fly up to the Whitsunday coast. We are spending New Years on a boat cruising around the Whitsunday Islands, which are on the east coast and part of the Great Barrier Reef. So I cant wait for that. After we are going down to Fraser Island, so I will update you when I return, no doubt with lots of photos. Until next time... xxx
