After my 28hr journey from Dirranbanbi to Sydney I crawled my way to the hostel and settled into my new dorm where I met with 3 other english girls. Straight away I fitted into their group (they came with a organisation so they know alot of people about) and have been hanging with them ever since.
We have had some really fun nights out and have met so many really cool people. Most days have been normal i.e. shopping, walking about the city, hanging about etc as saving money and now that I have started my job I seriously need to start saving that money for future adventures! My job here at a vet nurse is very different to home, I am working in a very small practice were there is just one vet and one nurse on at a time, they are all male too so a little different to what I am used to. I can't believe how quiet they are here, alot of the time I spend hanging about instead of rushing around like an idiot like back home. Also I don't think the nurses here are very capable as the vets do everything. One of the vets was struggling to take blood from a cat so I offered to have a go- firstly he was shocked I asked and even more shocked when I got it first time. Hopefully they will allow me to do a bit more practical stuff now and get away from reception for a while. Oh and I find the clients quite rude here- and I thought home was bad!!! nothing compared to the joys I have met here! My hours are long 8-7 4four days a week but it suits me as then I get 3 full days of a week and it cost me less with the bus.
David is still fruit picking and seems to be getting really involved, although he says he is looking forward to civalisation again!
I can't believe its almost xmas already, it really doesn't have the same vibe as back home, its just too hot, bright and the atmosphere is just not the same. There are some decorations about but nothing compared to home and they don't play xmas songs or have the same merry feeling. Although we did find one aussie who have xmas spirit- we got on a bus and the whole bus
Katie, Ruth and MeKatie, Ruth and MeKatie, Ruth and Me

Ready for the big night out with lots of dancing ahead!
was packed out with xmas decorations and the driver was dressed at santa-, so that made us laugh.
so not much to add at the moment and will prob not have alot to say till Mid Feb when I finish work (except xmas and new year) so hope you all have a great xmas and new year, thanks for all the messages so far its really nice to read messages from you guys- they put a smile on my face- so keep it up and don't forget us.

Sounds like your having fun, you're right about the nurses not being very capable over there, they're taught a lot differently. but sounds as though you're doing the right thing by asking and showing initiative. Did you get to work for North shore vets? where and what is david picking? not bananas I hope with the spiders that bury their eggs under tour skin urgh!
