Saturday morning was the end of our stay in NY, and we moved on to Washington DC. Our friend Beth (who we met while surfing in Fuerteventura last year) picked us up at the airport and drove us to her apartment, where we stayed during the visit. Brilliant place, and really close to everywhere in DC we wanted to go. Then Beth took us to the Sculpture Garden where a fountain had been made into an ice skating rink, and we, and Beth and her sister Angela and friend Maria, tried to not fall over on the ice. Not easy! After that we took the scenic route round DC by car, and saw a few beautiful monuments. The whole city is beautiful actually, and apparently it was designed by the same architect as designed Paris back in the day, which shows.

After breakfast on Sunday we took to the car again, and went to see the House of Sweden, which houses the embassy, and also has exhibitions and corporate apartments - furnished by ikea (of course), and also Georgetown. There in a cafe, we met the saxophone playing boyfriend of Maria (who we went skating with). Small world! After some

walking round Georgetown we
took off to see more monuments, including the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Monument, which had lovely fountains and statues. Next stop was the Kennedy Center to see the Hall of Mirrors with a couple of chandeliers apparently donated by Sweden, but we couldn't get in... The Kennedy Honors was on! So instead of chandeliers we got to see a lot of sparkly celebs. There were lots of security checks, and everyone but us had suits or nice dresses on but no one looked twice at us anyway, even though we stood out quite a bit...

On Monday we had to entertain ourselves as Beth had to work, but we managed to find the White House, Washington Memorial (the Cleopatra's needle-like tall monument), the FBI building and a few other sights by ourselves. Spy Dogs Cafe, yum! (I had a Red Square Dog...) When Beth escaped from work she took us to a favourite place, Ben's Chili Bowl. Chili cheese fries - say no more!!! (Sarah - you'd looove this place!)

Tomorrow we're leaving normality for a few crazy days in Las Vegas. A BIG thank you to Beth for letting us crash at your place, and for driving us round and showing us lots of things, it's been fantastic!!!

Sa istallet for kristallkronor fick vi se glittrande kandisar.

Mums! Strips med ost och chili, smaskens!!!

Imorgon lamnar vi for nagra galna dagar i Las Vegas.
