Namaste!
Finally some time to update this blog!
Just back from Fishling and Pokhara, one week relaxing, and showing our friends some more of Nepal!
In the OHC (www.orphanhelpcenter.org) things are going great! After Biba left, Anandi took over the whole thing, and she is doing a good job! She is just such a sweet lady too! We took the kids for an ‘internet class’, so from now on, volunteers can keep contact with them! And the whole homework situation is getting much better; we split them up in 2 groups, and are trying to help as much as possible with the difficulties!
Things are going so great there, that I’m going to visit some more projects next week, see if there is any place where I can help a bit! We will see, because our wedding is coming closer, and that is also asking for some time and preparation! And finally we made a date: the wedding will be at December 31 2006 in Fishling!
Fishling was again a great time, I’m getting to learn the family, and the culture very well! We also went rafting, with Kalu’s brother as the guide, and he did a great job!
Just after
Fishling there is Manakamana, where you can take a lift up to a temple in the mountains! It is just great to walk trough all those mountain villages, seeing the orange trees, and eating a lot of it too! People are so great in Nepal, so friendly, so nice! It is not hard to feel home in this country, and you can see tourists coming back a lot!
Our last day in Fishling we went to have a look at the rice fields, where at this time all people are working to take the rice in for the winter!
My cousin Sam is renting a house in Pokhara, where we all could stay this week! It is great to cook for ourselves, and to have a ‘home’ for a few days! And as always we rented a motorcycle to cruise around Pokhara! The whether is not that great, so we only had one chance to see the mountains again, but we went all up to Sarangkot, where the view is amazing! And for the rest we have been the laziest ever!
Back in KTM, I’m having a busy program: the OHC, my nepalie class every day, extend my visa, visit
some other NGO’s, finding a wedding dress … But every day here starts with a great breakfast and an evening in one of the many great bars in Thamel with the friends!
Kalu is still in Fishling, hanging out with family and friends, and enjoying the village life!
Our home is now Hotel Tradition, a great place for not too much money, and we are planning to stay here till we leave!
Some of you guys were asking for a post address: Malpertuussingel 51 9070 Destelbergen, Belgium. My parents are coming on Dec 24, so that is the easiest way to be sure post gets here!
Hope to hear from all of you!!!
Check out our pictures!

fantastisch!!!!
Groeten Marijke (vanuit Tenerife)
