Proudly flying the flag!!
Mick posing while the socceroos warm up in the background. Well, what have we been up to recently???
Okay, a couple of tuesdays ago we attended a football match (yes I've been converted into calling soccer; football...and calling chips; crisps...but that's a whole different story) the friendly between Australia and Ghana at Loftus Stadium in Shepherds Bush. It was a packed stadium with approx 15,000 very vocal supporters and probably 70% were aussies.
We went in as the underdogs, as Ghana are ranked about 10 places higher than us, but we put up a brilliant fight and came home with a 1 all draw. We certainly didnt lack in vulgar insults and unintelligent chants though. Seriously guys, we really need to come up with some better tunes, especially against african teams, Ghana bought along their own brass band and played the drums right through the match, whilst they all sung and danced in unison.
The only thing the aussies did in harmony was point at a rather overweight security guard and shout 'who ate all the meat pies...he did, he did!!' Yes it was humerous, but we came off looking like a bunch of drunken half wits...oh wait, thats exactly what we were!!
Anyway, it was a great night out and
Who ate all the meat pies???
Apparently this guy did!! Poor sod, how embarassing...hehehe. just another excuse to wear a green and gold beanie with a flag for a cape!!
Okay, the following night....now this is a biggie.....all of our hard work at celebrity spotting/stalking this year finally paid off as we actually got to see some...woohoo!!!
You may know this, but the 'world music awards' were held in London recently, and they happened to be held in good Old Earls Court!! Mick and I finished watching neighbours and home and away (trust me, its the best thing on british tv) then waddled on down the road to see if we could sneak a peak at the stars arriving for the big event.
Surprise, surprise, we werent the only ones who had that idea, so we threw ourselves at the barricades along with the thousands of others and tried to identify the red carpet walkers!!
Get ready for the name dropping.....we saw; Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Nelly, Peter Andre & his dopey missis Jordan (the brits really love their 'z' grade celebs) a whole heap of others that we couldnt really recognise, along with the worlds biggest weirdo, the one and only Michael Jackson!!
Now that is some serious celeb spotting....that
Score!!
Australia (after 6 missed shots in the 1st 15 mins) finally got the first goal on a penalty. surely beats Ray Martin, Rolf Harris and a Missy Higgins look-alike!! :-)
It was a 'hairy' situation when Michael Jackson finally arrived (the one everyone was waiting for) and the fence that I had illegally climbed (we werent allowed on it, but due to myself being slightly vertically challenged, I still wasnt high enough off the ground for the security guards to really notice) started to wobble as hundreds of others scrambled for a glimpse of the freak.
I managed to get a good look at the top of his head and very 'liz taylor' type hair-style as he cowered behind the security guards, so it was obviously worth the climb?!?!? hahaha
Anyway, it made for another interesting night out, and just proved why we love London so much, its always got something going on!!
This week we went to a trivia night in Picadilly Circus with my work colleagues, Mick got blind on 8 pints of free beer (man they're big arse glasses of beer over here) and our table became the rowdiest bunch of losers in the building (we started off winning...obviously peaked too soon) my boss also made an absolute drunken fool of herself, so it
Great Seats
We were with a group called 'the fanatics' and had brilliant seats! was another brilliant night had by all.
We got up to a bit this weekend, but I'm going to save that for my next blog in a couple of days time, dont want to spoil you with all the pics at once.
Have a great week!!
