Muddy trails
This is where we started with simple scenic trails, along the old train tracks. Just so you know my mom never came like she promised not because she didnt want to but it was costing her a fortune to come and see me. So she gave us the green light to drink the fucken tequilla I´d been drooling over for days.
So I finally made out to see my uncle in sonsonate. Ofcourse I had to take Marta (the elderly lady) and the Yanet (the goofy teenager) with me. After a 2 hour bus ride we were in what I like to call in the heart of El Salvador. Dirt roads, naked children, women walking around with baskets of food and laundry on their heads and houses that look like the wind will blow them away.
So we had decided since I would hardly get to see my uncle we would have to spend the night. The first thing I remembered from previous travel was, "dont sit on the toilet. and I hope I dont get sick and have to take a shit!" Words cant even describe what his bathroom is like so I took pictures for you to see.
I knew going to my uncles place not to expect much to
Everyone up the hill
Every now then at the beginning we came across small hillsides. change or progress after all El Salvador is a 3rd world country. He does have electricity and runny water but some of his kids still sleep on hammocks and I thank god that they got rid of the fucken chickens in the yard that used to peck at your ankles.
After a huge lunch it started to rain and my uncle got this genius idea to go on a hike in search of a pond or natural springs somewhere, because there be less people. Ofcouse he said this would be within walking distance and we´d be there quick.
So we talk off walking my uncle his kids, grandkids the neighbors kids and we ventured off looking for a place called EL PESCADITO (the little fish). After about an hour it started to pour really hard and the trails got really muddy and dam near hard to pass at times.
There we are hiking, climbing hillsides and walking through sugar cane fields all nice and scenic. Then somehow we start dodging traffic in flooded roads trying not to get seriously wet by the cars or hit. Then came the cliff sides that would fall right underneath you and
Crossing streams
Everyone had to make sure that Marta made is safely across. ofcourse the old bridge with loose and slippery planks not to mention the one that were missing.
Once we thought we were out of what seemed like a near death experience we ran into rivers that dam near took us. And all this for quiet pond in the middle of sugar cane fields. It was so worth it.
We didnt stay long because it started to get dark soon and we had to find another way back because Marta was not having it, to cross the old bridge in the dark.
Once back at my uncles place we showered and had a few beers and ate some good pupusas.
